In what world was I advocating an Internet ban or even saying the internet makes getting guns easy

Well... that is the discussion that's been going on here PC. It's kind of weird to jump in just to say something as obvious as 'if people want something in demand they'll be able to get it'

Who cares about the Internet or Amazon like?

You can go to any gun show and people in line will sell you a gun unless you look like a terrorist in their eyes

So if you are a foreigner that looks like a terrorist, maybe it's not so simple

But otherwise it's extremely simple to buy guns at gun shows as a foreigner or felon or anyone else that wants one and gets by the "guy in line's gut feeling about me" background check

There's a disconnect between "lol good luck you're not going to get a gun" and "people will get what they want regardless of legality"

It's not like all their guns were totally ineffective and he just kept killing people until Johnny number five swooped in and saved the day. Guys with guns prevented this from being a worse tragedy. It wasn't civilians with guns so maybe just stock with that.

The only background check being the seller's "gut feeling about you and your accent" is not a hard barrier to cross, especially when there are lots of sellers in the line and lots of gun shows each week

Swing by Bass Pro Shops for a new wardrobe ahead of time and the "background check" gets even easier to pass

Can there ever be an actual moderate politician anymore? Can we ever get to the point again where "hey, i want x and you want y, but we can agree on z, which gives us both something"?

What exactly is the point here though? I could probably buy weed in that line too. And I could probably fairly easily find a "line" somewhere where I could buy crack, or kiddie porn, or whatever. Is your thought that we need to crack down on these gun shows....so that the "line" goes somewhere else? Or are you just saying "prohibition is super sweet guys not sure why we've never tried it before, if you dont like something, just make it illegal!"

Won't there ALWAYS be an "easiest place" for foreigners to buy guns (lol also not sure why the **** we care about foreigners buying guns)? That it might currently be gun shows seems hardly any argument at all against gun shows.

To be fair, the people peddling crack and kiddie porn don't usually get to advertise on the local radio station for weeks which Knights of Columbus hall they rented out next Saturday so you can get your fix.

Clearly eliminating the gun show loopholes would in act make it harder to obtain guns. Not impossible no, but impossible is a stupid standard. I mean, "people will just always get crack, why don't they just sell it at Walgreens next to the foot powder" is not really a clever argument, notwithstanding that it would be hilarious to see someone try to get high on Tinactin.

elected democrats are extremely moderate (Sanders aside) rn in the grand scheme of things. The Rs have just swung so far right it doesn't seem that way.
