He hasn't realigned ****.

They are all out to take the nom from him, take a deep sigh of relief, and move on as if nothing happened.

That's what the party apparatus will do, but too much of a shift has occurred under the surface for it to work.

he might be worse in an expected outcome sort of way, but not in a "eh let's just replace our solders with Nukes in Japan" bat**** crazy sort of way.

as far as lasting effect of Trump on the R party - we'll see. my money is on nothing changes in an substantial way, as the R base will think (if Cruz wins) "we weathered the storm, so our methods worked!" and if Trump wins the nom but gets crushed in GE they'll think "see, we needed a base R candidate!"

basic lol the R party now and whatever the outcome of this election is, but the idea that they'll learn from this and become a clearly functioning body is a long shot

still torn as to whether I want to see Trump get the nom and get embarrassed in the general or whether his small but non-zero chance of actually winning is not worth it

I am much more scared of a Cruz presidency than a Trump presidency. And with each passing day I feel like Trump has an even or worse shot than Cruz in the GE. So part of me is really starting to root that he gets the nom.

My preferences are

1) goes down in flames before the nom
2) gets the nom, loses in historically lol fashion in general
3) Has nom stolen from him by GOP

Fireworks from #3 would be great but him becoming a martyr is unsatisfying

Yeah I think #2 would be the most satisfying. Like 65-35, Republicans lose the Senate and almost lose the House. The joy of riding the 3-sigma Trump fans on here and some other places until the end of time would be indescribable.

#3 would be goat if they steal it from both TRUMP and Cruz. I would be entertained. If Cruz steals the nomination I'd just feel slightly sick.

But then if Kasich wins the GE all would be vindicated and relative harmony restored to the Republican party. The frothies would take their medicine and go back to voting against their own self-interest. Status quo 4 life! And seattlelou has a 4-year erection.

I would fap furioisly. Kasich is obviously the best of the the 3 but I would get tired of that home spun son of a postman nonsense. I would prefer elite prep school, old money, out of touch hilarity.

I meant more about the frothies going back to voting against their own self-interests.

Isn't voting against your own self interest noble or something?
SE Hoya Containment Thread (aka Politics) Quote

Yes if you really supported the ludicrous Republican candidates' tax proposals because you honestly feel like the wealthy are getting the shaft under the current system. That would be noble I guess.

But not when you're supporting them primarily because you've been conned into thinking the poor (minorities) aren't paying their fair share.

Sando making the fatal error of assuming the Republican party is actually capable of introspection.

So it's ok to vote that way if it benefits you personally? Or only if they agree with you and aren't idiots?

Also most people are only right by coincidence not by reason or logic or principle or anything.

Everyone primarily votes in a way that benefits them personally. The system is based on that.

Now I happen to think that stuff like subsidized higher education, while it won't necessarily benefit me personally, is good for the country as a whole - which could eventually benefit me in the long run. I don't want to live in a place where Trump fans are the dominant breed.

So you can call it long term self-interest or something.

Republicans however have historically been really good at convincing their base that right now, when we have the highest income inequality in 100 years, tax cuts for the rich and tax hikes on the poor - are a good idea.

The people I'm calling the "frothies", middle and lower middle class Republican voters who are now largely Trumpites, aren't supporting these plans because they think the wealthy are paying too much. They think the poor are paying too little. You hear it time and time again. They just by nature assume that their taxes will always remain constant and any tax break for the wealthy will be taken out of the backs of the poor (and we all know damn well who they're picturing in their minds here).

AKA - "Skin in the game".

Not much noble in that imo.

If you were genuine seems like you'd be pitiing them not mocking them.

So basically "poors and minorities voting republican are idiots and getting what they deserve"

a bit harsh
