This makes people here or in the Twitterverse think I’m like some form of super centrist when in reality no one in the real world would hear my views and call me anything other than a hyper lib.
I think Bernie’s views on trade are lol, absolutely naive on foreign policy, and unrealistic about how broader economic policy works, even as I largely agree with the idea of Bernie’s two/three non-trade talking domestic points (Health Care, 2-years JuCo free, increased taxes on rich) and am even further left on the social justice/equality platform.
Btw it’s amazing how quiet all the Bernie supporters in here are as Trump implements basically exactly the same moronic trade platform that Bernie wanted. Where is all the cheering?
While an excellent dig, I think it's only fair to point out:
*None of the Bernie Bros ever even talked about his "trade platform", let alone touted it. I believe the strongest pro-voice for it was, "meh".
*We could *probably* have expected Bernie to have, you know, discussed it with someone other than a single kook economic troll before unveiling it really half-assed (catching his own staff and congress completely off-guard) and all. I think it perfectly fine to be offended by this rollout even if you *like* the policy.
*I expect his top economic adviser would *not* have resigned as a result?
*It just generally could have been expected to not look like a chaotic ****show of a rollout largely intended to deflect news of Russian collusion/porn star affair/WH staff turnover/various graft/etc.
Mind you, I was pro-Hillary on her merits even in the primaries and would gladly take her (in office) over any other likely dem in 2020 (that's called faint praise). I found Bernie's stance on trade and economics/foreign policy terrible and pretty much a dealbreaker--along with what I assume would be devastating opposition research. I mean, I obviously would have voted for him in the general.
Here in Alabama, I don't really have to worry about being perceived as anything other than hyper-mega-liberal. Now, when we move to Atlanta...
