As a country, we watched a deranged kid in Connecticut literally answer the "how many 5 year olds" question and couldn't manage even one decent gun law reform.

Nothing is going to move gun nuts off their perch

Ron Desantis was the third baseman in case anyone cares. He sure seems to. Also wants people to know the equipment and coaches were on the first base side.

Ron Desantis also confirms that Jeff Duncan was the shortstop, so I'm sure Jeff is thankful for that.

Lol wat.

And joking but not really - I wonder if this was true if we could actually pass some gun laws.

The real tragedy here is that we couldn't get the shooter enough mandatory accuracy training.

Idiotic/annoying/narcissistic Facebook post:

"Folks,

As some of you may have heard, there was a shooting earlier this morning in Alexandria, VA, where I reside. A congressman and several others were hurt in this tragic event.

I am alright - I was not in the vicinity b/c I was driving to work but I know exactly where that baseball field is."

Look I know progressives (of which I consider myself one) are a passionate group in general but we've got to start realizing stuff like this; even in jest (even when legit deserved for that matter) or on an internet message board, is a terrible look, greatly hurts our agenda, and does nothing to help it while strengthening and reaffirming the delusions of the already crazy R base.

when you've got people ITT openly celebrating an attempted assassination of members of congress, then maybe the delusions of the republican base aren't actually delusions?

last page of this thread has really exposed some pieces of ****. 'it's a joke bro chill out' and 'they deserve it tho' wouldn't fly for a second if it was the other way round.

It wouldn't fly if it was the other way around because the Democratic party hasn't openly declared war not only on American citizens but basically on the entire planet. The parties do not deserve equal and fair treatment. The Republican base SHOULD be afraid. They're underdogs in the war to come. They're outnumbered and much less intelligent on average. There's a reason the South got crushed in the Civil War.

Timmay,

The problem is not that this is going to fly, the problem is this HAS flown, from Columbine to Sandy Hook to the theater in Colorado to a thousand people a year killed by police to... well, a lot more.

I'm genuinely interested to see the hand-wringing from the right wing nutters on this -- on the one hand, this is the perfect expression of Second Amendment rights that they've proudly shoved up the asses of America for decades; on the other hand it's finally being directed at them. It should be an interesting expose of their abject lack of principles on this core issue.

Put more succinctly: It's hard for me to be too angry people who are finally acting like they're on the receiving end of a civil war -- because they are.

Eh, I think the only people that will notice the hypocrisy are those that were already aware of it. The FoxNewses of the world will just talk about THOSE TERRIBLE LIBS.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with any of this. The original post in question is still not a good look and hurts the movement overall imo, even if there's a level of justification to it.

Basically, putting things more succinctly at this specific point and time is still important. Depending how quickly this kind of stuff continues to escalate, this could easily change.
