Canelo does his best work to the body. GGG has a body that can't be hurt.

Make the ****ing fight already

Smith lasted longer than I thought given that he was standing right in front of Canelo all fight, tough guy. Canelo was taking his time, methodically landing combos each round.

Nothing bad to say about Canelo's performance, just his choice in caliber of opponent.

Maybe he'll call Willie Monroe Jr. into the ring tonight!

Ok. Let's hear the post fight interview where Canelo tells us he fears no man and will fight anyone.

Will be interesting to see which nobody Canelo fights next.

God I love Max!

Edit: Twice or three times what? Didn't they offer him a flat fee?

Bingo!

Also wtf @ GGG not accepting story. Canelo is going to get big backlash on this.

Cliffs for those of us that may have closed their streams without considering Max Max'ing on Canelo?

Canelo seems to have a pretty solid chin, he's taken some good shots from fighters like Smith and Kirkland without any issue.

But I don't think we've seen him take some real bombs. Certainly not like GGG taking clean power hooks from Stevens and shrugging them off like a gnat. Curious to see just how good Canelo's chin is.

Canelo oddly stated that they offered GGG 3x more than he's ever made months ago and he didn't accept. Seems like a line that if it were nearly true and/or fair, Canelo's camp would've said this all along.

Reiterated that he's not afraid to fight anyone and that he's got his camp's back, they're all in this together, and also stated several times that he's the best. No mention of "working into the 160lb weight class," that's the one positive, not hearing that pathetic manipulative argument.

Max did a nice job of pressuring him. It's clear HBO's interest is in the biggest fights, it gives you the most viewers, but these promoters have spines made of glass. Seriously, Arum matching Manny up with Vargas, DLH matching Canelo up with Smith and Haymon matching most fighters up with mismatches... it's rough out there.

Sounds like Max called out Oscar to (essentially) his face. If that's true, that's outstanding.

Lol yea as Canelo was walking away Max said into the mic that once DLH got control over his career he started being matched very competitively. That was a pretty clear shot at Oscar.

I feel like Oscar is just a greedy promoter while Hopkins truly feels GGG is the superior fighter. You can kind of tell the way Hopkins talks about GGG.

By who? You think HBO would rather sell high six figure PPVs in a GGG matchup or low six figure ones in a Liam Smith matchup? Was going to type duck too but my ten minute memory couldn't believe he actually said that, nice one.

High 6's? Canelo vs. GGG on Cinco weekend next year does ~1.5

Canelo Cotto did 900k and was easily the highest selling PPV since Manny Floyd.

Hopefully the type of people and businesses that bring PPVs from 500k to 1 mil to 1.5 mil are as fed up with this fight being delayed as we hardcore followers are.

Some other recent #s.

Canelo Khan 450k buys
Manny Bradley (third fight) 450k buys
Crawford Postol 50k buys

I wonder what Ward-Kovalev will do. Neither is a strong A-side. I am guessing 300k buys.

i'm with RT on this one. i think it would be really be hyped up in mainstream sports media which would help a ton. i have seen GGG on espn a lot over the last year doing interviews and stuff (usually late night admittedly) and it is the biggest fight in the sport. i think it would sell over a million too

I'll take the over, let's say 500k, but yeah, that fight may end up holding the all time record from combined skill level to fan interest.

Ward should've fought more (I know he had promoter/legal issues) and promoted himself with just a little more edge. He has the skill, but he can barely draw in Oakland, much less NYC or Jerry World.

i'm hoping they add a really solid co main to the ward-kov fight with some gtd fireworks but if all the rumors about hbo having no money for boxing this year are true that is probably wishful thinking

i don't think it will get more than 300k even though it deserves way more
