It seems my missus is very hard to satisfy when it comes to boxing.

The first fight we watched together was the Eubank vrs Blackwell fight.

She was quite impressed with Blackwell's fighting spirit and said him going into a coma proved his willingness to fight ... wtf ?

I tried to explain that boxing really does not work that way.

It obviously did not sink in because last night we watched the AJ fight and she was disgusted with how Martin just gave up and said he should of at least got coma'd instead of just quitting on his backside !!

I gave up at that point tbh.

PS ... Marcus McDonnell is a truly horrible ref .. the bloke just pi$$es me off every time i watch him.

Got to love how Hearn was building this fight up as an outright war, you then look on Boxrec and Brophy had one KO in 16 fights lol.

Hearn is just doing his job though, it's his job to polish the turds so that people buy the PPV events. Just do your home work before buying (as with everything).

There's this thing called the internet and...

Anyway, didn't stay up for the fight. Results were as I expected for Pac/Bradley. Doubt Manny retires. He'll make a comeback. A guy like Manny always fights one too many.

I didn't pay for it but it is still an abomination. Kell Brook is 36-0 and his toughest opponent has been Carson Jones.

This is true. Just think, 14 more Sky PPVs and he will have surpassed Mayweather.

i actually thought the mayweather bradley fight last night was pretty interesting for the first 6 rounds or so. besides the one round that manny clearly won i really thought every single one of the other ones were complete toss ups. i stopped scoring at that point because I figured there is basically no possible bad score for any of those rounds. weird at the end to see bradley so dejected in the 10th+. never thought i would see him look so defeated but he was mentally checked out. bradley has nothing to be ashamed of, he came in with a good game plan and looked pretty slick but he just isn't as good as manny

anyway manny is still absolute world class and i would still like to see him fight crawford or something

anyway i also have a hot take conspiracy theory that abraham was on the take in his fight. pathetic stuff

I thought Abraham looked the same as always, Ramirez just exploited him. You could see him trying to set his stuff up, Ramirez just kept him off balance and threw punches from all sorts of angles while not tiring himself out.

Manny Crawford would be great. Manny Brook should be in play too, bc Brook isn't with Haymon and could use a big payday and a Manny loss won't ruin his marketability.

Not sure who Ramirez will fight. Probably one or two softer touches, 168 isn't particularly deep right now and he has a belt, time to cash in. Would like to see him vs DeGale obviously. He's young and tall, he'll probably be at 175 in the next couple of years and then things get more intriguing.

Abraham has been an unbearably boring fighter in every fight I've watched of his. No idea how he's become a big time fighter.

Just kind of shows how bang average Martin Murray really is.

Groves would dismantle Murray if they fought.

Groves hasn't exactly been stellar either. He got outclassed by Jack.

There aren't a lot of "wow, he's good" type fighters at 168, especially with Froch retiring and Ward moving up. Probably plenty of good young fighters just around the corner, led by Ramirez.

I think the top 3 at 175, and top 3 are 160 (counting Canelo since he outweighs most 160lbers on fight night and comes in over 154 on scales) are pretty clearly better than the best 168lber relative to skill right now.

Im a Groves fan so im slightly biased but im convinced we have yet to see the best of Groves.

I think hes finally got his head screwed back on and is actually now listening to his trainer and looking to improve.

Better late than never i suppose ...

After a little post-fight thought, there seems like only one real, possible answer to this question.

First, we all expect politics to be a legit threat. The dude really wants to be President, and why not.

Second, we can assume that none of the top guys in or around the division will face him. Guys like Crawford, Brook, Postol simply have no incentive other than money (which I realize..."Other than that Ms. Lincoln, how was the play") to derail their careers by taking an L here.

Thirdly, let's assume Floyd is done for real. Again, who knows, but we'll take that as a given.

What does that leave if Manny will indeed fight again? I think it's Manny vs.

Spoiler:
JMM V: This time it's Electric Boogaloo

It's not more or less nonsensical than any other option and at least there's a narrative here that will be missing from almost any other option.

Admittedly it's a little out there, but other than Floyd, there is no decent option, so he might as well have another competitive fight where no young talent gets damaged.

I'm right there with you. After his showings vs Froch, where I felt he was winning and fighting to a draw when he lost in each, I expected him to go onto greater things. He can be a good, fast boxer and certainly capable of beating several of the champs at his division, just haven't seen him execute on that skill for a full 12 rounds.

I think JMM is a legitimate prediction. However, I do think JMM either retires or is a shell of himself vs anyone decent. His knee issue seems real and he's been gone for so long. I think that would be a pretty easy payday for Manny.

The only thing I disagree with you on is Crawford. Crawford absolutely wants that fight, the payday is huge and if he wins it's instant stardom. I think it makes some sense for Manny as well, it's a very legitimate opponent that should intrigue many of the former PPV buyers that have fallen off on Manny lately.

Floyd makes sense too.

Brook can make sense, for the same reasons as Crawford, but is it enough of an opponent for Manny? I don't know.

Postol is too small of a name and less intriguing to diehards than Crawford.

I believe I saw a report saying the Pacquiao camp picked Bradley over Crawford because they thought he provided a better draw for the ppv. According to the report below, Arum would like to make Pacquiao-Crawford for this fall if Pacquiao will fight again. Crawford to fight one more tune-up before then.

I'd be willing to bet on Crawford beating Manny if Crawford was the dog.

Some great fights this weekend. Jesus Soto Karass vs Kamegai is gonna be an all-out war. Steve Cunningham is a great challenger for Glowacki on Saturday. Spence/Algieri seems to be a pick'em for me. A great test to see if Spence is for real.

crawford starts off too slow for me

don't think he can afford to go down like 3-0 on manny. i still favor manny after watching him last weekend. wouldn't mind bradley v crawford though. think bradley cotto could be entertaining too

Agree 100%, GG is very easy to root for and a fun fighter to watch. I'd like to see him get right in the head and claim a world title at some point.

JMM said he wants the fight shortly after Pac/Tim III and the fact that he's likely shot makes it all the more likely imo. JMM's style is still a challenge for Manny and even if he loses, which is likely, he still put Manny to sleep in IV. That picture will endure.

Also, the payday, as you mentioned, is the largest of any potential opponent outside of Floyd. I'm operating on the assumption that Manny has basically one large fight left. That assumption makes it more likely Manny takes a "show" fight than a more difficult fight like the younger guys.

As a fan of both Manny and Boxing in general, I'd love to see him fight Crawford. No result is bad. Manny wins, great send off. Crawford wins, he's star burns super bright.

No doubt, and I suspect like everyone else he's got at least one more left in him, but man, his clock is ticking. His combo of elite training and roids won't last forever, and unless he wants to beat up Broner and cash out, he'll need to start the build soon.

Postol is also trained by Roach, so that's a tough sell, but for the reasons mentioned above, I think basically all the legit names in the division are out.

On topic, what odds can we get on the # of future fights for Manny + Floyd at <0.5?

How crazy would it be for Manny to win a Senate seat and move on and Floyd to just legitimately enjoy retirement?

JSK/Kamegai is a war my friends!!

That said, the rounds are competitive but JSK has more power and a stronger chin. He's simply a better fighter.
