I sat next to him. He doesn't have a real big build. He was Tall and lanky with real long arms. Probabky would be hard for him to put on enough mass where he isn't very outweighed against pretty much all heavyweights. Next time I see him I will ask if he ever considered/tried going to heavyweight.

Anybody know anything about the Alvarez v Cotto undercard? Anything worth paying attention to?

super featherweight title fight should be a battle

rigo fight will probably be boring as **** with him dominating, prob knocking this guy out at some point

rios-velez is whatever, velez should stomp but he isn't anything special

Canelo-Cotto is gonna be good, I got Canelo winning either by decision or tko although I would love for Cotto to come out on top

Rigondeaux should put on a stellar performance as well

I got Canelo by decision. Shouldn't be close. Canelo's bigger, more powerful and has a great chin. That said, Cotto does as well. Cotto only got KOed by Margarito + loaded gloves and prime Pacquiao.

i don't understand how Cotto is going to make more money than Canelo for this fight. i saw Cotto will get 15 million and Canelo will make 5 million. more people are going to buy this PPV because its Canelo fighting someone really good, not the other way around.

$5 million is like a trillion pesos tho

Normally, the champ gets more money unless the challenger is Mayweather.

Doesn't Cotto do his own promotion or something? Maybe that is why, he cut out the middleman on his end?

Lets slow our rolls with the hype train for this fight a little bit. This isn't exactly Haggler-Hearns 2. It is a couple pretty good but overrated 154 pound fighters (both of whom were completely dominated by a legitimate 147 pound great fighter, and in Cotto's case he was also dominated by a great roided up 125 pound fighter) fighting to be recognized as the 2nd best 160 pound fighter.

I mean whatever the outcome I will see the fight when it comes on HBO in a couple weeks, but that is about it. If you actually want me to get excited and order a PPV lets see the winner of this fight fight Golovkin sometime in the next year.

well here's the thing: there really is no hype for this fight. sure, everyone knows that it's happening on Saturday, but no one is truly counting down the minutes for it like we used to for other big fights. the Mayweather Pacquiao "fight" is to blame.

Canelo is going to make more than 5 million.

He (and probably Cotto too) have PPV upside. Canelo usually has big deals in Mexican television for his fights as well.

Canelo is probably a slightly bigger monetary draw than Cotto, he may be getting more when all is said and done. Reported fight night money to Nevada is rarely the entire picture with the big stars.

Cotto - Martinez only did 350k buys. Canelo has been doing that vs Lara and Angulo, two opponents with less of a draw than Martinez (who himself isn't a huge draw, but clearly bigger than those two).

I think tomorrow's PPV is going to bomb #s wise by the way. Well under a million.

Really looking forward to the fight though.

Just saw weigh ins. 153 for Cotto and 155 for Canelo. Is this fight at a catch weight (like all of Cotto's other "MW" title fights?)

Wouldn't take a lot. This has been a pretty underwhelming year as far as compelling fights. Most of the big name fighters have been fighting lower tier fighters instead of each other. I think haymon/pbc matchmaking is mostly to blame for this.

Off the top of my head I think kovalev-pascal was the most exciting/compelling fiight of the year, assuming it was in this year. I am not sure.

Yeah it's at 155.

Guess that'll happen mid/late 2016 given Kovalev is fighting Pascal in a rematch this January. A lot can happen during that time.

Martin Murray fighting Arthur Abraham for the SMW title.

Got Murray winning the first 3 rounds, but it's in Germany. So, no matter what happens he'll lose a decision.

EDIT: Of course, Abraham comes on strong just after this post and wins 4-6 imo. Murray looking bad with all the holding on the ropes.

2-2 Murray Abraham I think.

Murray boxing well, Abraham should get some good shots in, good, if uneventful fight, thus far.

Abraham running away with it. He has no respect for Murray and is just walking through his punches.

If Murray wants to win, he's got to step into his punches and break through Abraham's defense with combinations.

Christ ... Murray really is bang average.

If he cannot beat a faded Abraham then he has nowhere to go.
