Eddie will take him along slowly, build up the fan base by allowing them to see KO's. Will gradually step him up in class and before you know it you are paying £15 to watch him fight on box office.
What's lost is that Kovalev is now likely getting overpaid for fighting punching bags. He signed a deal when HBO thought they had Stevenson - Kovalev in the bag (and for whatever reason did not push hard enough to get it set in stone) and it sounds like Kovalev got paid based on that.
The fans are the ones that get screwed though.
Rios - Chavez should be awesome, that's the type of fight we need to see made more often.
Also where the hell is James Kirkland? Huge win, dramatic story, great ratings, then he turns down a Willie Nelson fight and just disappears...
I put a little on Algieri at +520 and then bought a bit more of the under 9.5 rounds for -130.
My play is that if Provo can reach him, Algieri doesn't last that deep. And if Provo can't reach him, it means Algieri is boxing effectively and in a good spot to win.
Edit: Sigh, I thought Cotto Martinez played THEN at 10 EST we get the two live fights. Stupid replay.
