Saw the Loma fight on replay. Was as expected.

That said, Crolla looked like he went down pretty easily from that one last shot. Barely looked like anything was on it. But I guess that's Loma for you. Didn't think he had anything on the punch that KOed Linares either.

Read that the punch supposedly landed on the area where his skull was once fractured. Not sure how much that means. I mean I fractured my skull once and I'm not weaker there than on the other side of my head.

In Minneapolis right now for the Truax Quillin fight. Not really my favorite fight tbh I’m not expecting a whole lot from this card but the crowd should be fun with Truax being a Minnesota guy. Prob won’t head there until about 730 there are only 4 fights I really consider worth watching

Truax Quilin looks like a real toss up of a fight.

Shields/Hammer looks like a good watch too. Rest of the fights tonight are pretty one-sided.

Nice Tigers!

I think Hammer won round 1. Shields is loading up on big counter stuff, will be interesting to see if she can land a few clean.

1-1, Shields landed a few big shots in that one, her power seems to bother Hammer. Hammer looks a little more tentative after being hit with some of those shots.

Christina Holder or Hammer? Final warning, then point should come soon.

Shields really frustrating her now. I think she took round 4 clearly, but probably 3 too. likely 3-1 Shields. Hammer doesn't seem able to land shots when she comes in without taking bigger shots in return.

Hammer just can't seem to win a round. Flashes of good boxing, but then gets hit with a few big shots and gets pushed around. Walking backwards too much. Shields fight to lose, it's likely 5-2 or 6-1.

Well deserved on Shields part, excellent performance. Great talker as always.

Munguia in a very close fight against a guy he was supposed to destroy.

He'll win if the rest of the fight was close because lol Mexico. But still talk of this guy in the top 10 in the division let alone top 5 is out of the question. Guy has no defense, telegraphs his shots and some dude I never heard of went the distance with him.

Yup. It was lol Mexico.

Munguia just seems like a better promoted Tapia. I highly doubt he'd beat the Kirkland that beat Tapia, let alone a true top 5 guy at 154, let alone a top 10 guy at 168 (probably his appropriate weight class).

Somebody on r/boxing claimed that they saw Oscar hand a judge an envelope and smile.

Pretty clear that Arum and Hearn aren't the scourge of this sport. Oscar is the scum of the Earth.

Apparently Traux got a cut deep enough to stop the fight for a no decision. Man I am so glad I didn't watch that **** card.

Honestly, I'll take an average UFC PPV card over an average boxing card any day of the week. This weekend was epic GOAT UFC and lol horrible boxing.

Welp that sucked for sure kind of as expected lol

I’ve never been a big Munguia guy but I’m def surprised he went life and death with some Aussie I’ve never heard of. He’s got a ton of work to do. Still really young but I tend to doubt he will ever be more than a ridiculously fun side show. Rafe and Brian Campbell were speculating that we might see him v GGG last week on their podcast but I think that can be put to bed now I suppose( although tbh I would watch the eff out of that but don’t think it would end without Munguia in the hospital ). Perhaps it really doesn’t matter because of size mismatch but I do think Munguia beating the hell out of Sadam Ali is still better than anything Glen Tapia has ever done tho and I do like the kid I hope this is a wake up call

Munguia's use of the Homer Simpson defense isn't doing to do him well for much longer. He's got a lot of mileage on him for being only 22. If he wants to do well at the top, he'll have to give a **** about defense. Being a weight bully won't be enough to beat the elite.

Yeah my biggest issue with Munguia is definitely the fact that it doesn’t seem he has improved at all? Problematic. Can’t believe he is only 22 tho. He is apparently moving up to 160 soon which makes sense as he is massive but there are a lot of killers there and he would almost certainly lose to the top 5 guys. Someone like BJS or Andrade would embarasss him I think but who knows. 22 is pretty ridiculously young hopefully he learns from this fight cuz he could have an incredibly fun career for us fans but at current rate he will be punch drunk by 30

Clean win over Beefy Smith makes you top 10.

He doesn't have the ring IQ or flashes of dynamic defense that you'd expect to see from a guy that would develop into a legitimate reigning champion.

Look at Canelo at a similar age, while he had endurance issues and some flat footedness, he also flashed spurts of incredible combos and good defensive head movement. Munguia is showing none of that, his chin is out there like that turtle character from the mario series, and he doesn't move that head at all. He's a big swinger with no defense that can take punches for now against lower level competition at a weight class 2 levels lower than he probably should be fighting at. If this weren't entertainment, he'd of been exposed by now from a top 10 or top 15 fighter at 160 or 168, but since it's entertainment, he can be promoted into a belt.

FWIW, Tapia pre Kirkland would've beaten Ali too I believe, rewatch that Kirkland fight, he was doing well, just had no defense and couldn't take unlimited Kirkland bombs. His career was pretty much over after that fight, he was exposed and I'm sure his confidence took a hit.

So done with this dude. Didn’t expect anything else but still he’s dead to me

Gary seems like a dude content to fight overmatched competitors once a year for a $100,000 purse. Sure, he could fight more often and make more money but doesn't want it. He'd rather train for 2 months, fight once and enjoy the rest of his time off. Good luck to him.

The commentators I'm listening to seem bizarrely confused by the fact people hate Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez's arrogance. Their attitudes might destroy their potential
