Apparently Danny Jansen just beat Andrew Gilding in today's Pro Tour final. I say probably as Occam's Razor indicates it's more likely to be an elaborate prank than real life

Man if you told me that MVG, Gary, Cross, Clayton, De Sousa, Rydz, Barney, Razma and Ratajski were all in the last 16 and none of them even made the semis I'd have slapped you

Scenes in Austria, Tricole goes 125-140-180 to leave 56 after 9 to break in a deciding leg, Lerchbacher is like "lol no" and takes out 167 for the match

Never mind that for checkout of the year, Gilding hit a 170 after Ratajski went 180-140 to leave tops, but then Whitlock did Whitlock things

And Whitlock follows it up by winning the World Cup with Damon Heta. Includes qualification for a few events that might help (The Grand Slam at least).

well, we assume so, they haven't actually announced the criteria yet (you would hope they invite duff/greaves at least) but you've got to think it gets whitlock in the slam, which might be the difference between being a seed at the worlds and not. looking at the race now he's #34

LAST CALL to join the Josh Rock world champion hype train, he is Chisnall away from winning his first senior title, and will start appearing on TV frequently in the next couple of months (qualified for the European Championship where he'll play Aspinall, the Grand Slam through the Development Tour, also easily in the Players Championship Finals), today's reign of terror:

Obviously you can't get the 150/1 I took in April (he's been backed in from 80/1 to 40/1 on 365 today), but 80's is still available in a few places

How much did you put on that long shot and what is the longest shot you ever landed?

Pretty much my standard play size

Longest bink was de Sousa winning one of his first Players Championships at 150/1, also got on Wright each way the first time he made the world final at 100/1

Yeah, Damon's been playing great all year and won one of the Pro Tours in the latest block as well as the last Euro Tour. Just hasn't translated to TV... yet

Yeah but can he cope with the pressure of TV tournaments, especially the WC ?

And the longer formats on TV

The European Tour has larger crowds than most televised events, so that side of things I'm not concerned about. Every interview I've seen he comes over as very level headed and realistic, at least before the world's he'll have three TV events to get used to things (four if you count the world youth final as a separate event to the PC Finals despite it being at the same venue on the same day). That he can win two Development Tours on the same day would indicate he would have the stamina to handle a longer format event

And it's my only play of the round. He should be 1/2

Well he handled Aspinall in a decider just fine. Assuming Smith beats Sedlacek that second round match will be fire
