Jesus what a match that was, 39 180s and another missed D12 by Wright ffs

Great game. If Ando had have taken it to an eleventh set that probably becomes match of the year, but I guess not quite.

Market likes Wright slightly in the final, this should be more like 8/15 Wright rather than just odds on, probably bet Peter in the final as a result, especially given Smith's propensity to choke in major finals

This is immense, Wright winning that 10th set after being 2-0 down and breaking twice was brilliant

No premiere league announcement tonight for some reason. Should be imo Price, Wright, MVG, Wade, Smith, De Souza, Cross, Dimi, Clayton and Ando. Sort by OoM and invite the top 10.

Couldn’t agree more. I’d love the likes of Cullen, Searle, Humphries, Rydz to get in, but I just don’t think any of those did enough to replace anyone from the top 10 OoM.

A very worthy winner.

Peter Wright (51y 10m) becomes the 2nd oldest world champion after Phil Taylor (52y 5m) who last won in 2013.

Michael Smith (2019, 2022) joins Peter Manley (1999, 2002, 2006) as the only players to lose their first two or more world finals.

Phil Taylor's prizemoney from his 14 world title wins - £970,000
Peter Taylor's prizemoney from his 2 world title wins - £1,000,000

Well yeah, that's the obvious call. The reason I've heard as to why it's not been announced yet is to do with restrictions around where it's being held, which is odd given they've already announced the venues, and it doesn't prevent them announcing the players. Unless it's something like Anderson being invited, but he's crying off playing overseas, unless of course the continued German/Dutch overreaction causes them to bin off the Berlin/Rotterdam dates, in which case he'll play

Canada here, so this may sound dumb, but with Brexit, do you have to quarantine when you go in and out of Britain? Or is it just unvaccinated that would have to? Britain sounds kind of like USA Jr. these last months, so maybe it's just ****ing wide open and everyone is free to breathe on each other idk. Is quarantine times ****ing up Premier league?

And has the PDC announced a vaccination policy? Wonder if there's an unvaxxed player within the 10 that they want to invite?

Nothing to do with Brexit. The EU themselves have different rules in different places regarding this. Heck, even within the UK there's different rules for various stuff - they could hold the PL in Manchester with a full crowd but Cardiff/Glasgow would be behind closed doors given those places are run by even bigger idiots than Johnson. But it's entirely possible - they may be wanting to remove the Rotterdam/Berlin legs and replace with domestic venues if it is going to cause these sorts of issues (and given that Berlin/Netherlands wouldn't allow a crowd right now anyway)

Their policy should be it's none of their business, but I don't know in practice

180-140-140 and didn't get a chance at the 41 in the final leg.

So basically the first stage was just to eliminate the people with 55 average ?

The tour card distribution (UK 17 Europe 15) seems insane to me. So many better players playing in the UK Q-School. Sixfour, was it possible for players from the UK (say Fallon for instance) to go play in the other Q-School, or does PDC have a rule in place where she forced to earn her card in the UK Q-School?

Basically yes, it was brought in last year due to limitations they could have on people in one place at one time (this is also why they split the EU one into two sessions this year), but it seemed sensible to do it for the reasons you've stated going forward

UK/Ireland must play in UK, most European players must play in Germany, rest of world has a choice (at least one of the Americans switched to the UK from EU last year), barring special circumstances. Card split is done on entry count so if a boatload of crap Germans enter you'll have this result
