i'm not disputing your claim that they weren't relevant for some time, but to just discount the fact that lombardi, favre, and rodgers are three entities most franchises have never even had, and don't currently have, is beyond dumb. also you are wrong. starr, hornung, nitschke, james lofton, etc. are all HoF'ers that can't be forgotten.

From 1968 to 1997 the Packers did not win a super bowl; did not play in a super bowl; and participated in their conference championship game once. And that was in 1996. For 28 years they played in ZERO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

It was a BIG DEAL when Reggie decided to come to GB. The Steelers will never lack for attracting marquee players, especially on D.
What are you talking about? Steelers hardly have attracted marquee players on D. They have either developed them through the draft and hardly attracted key free agents on D. You clearly are spouting a lot of stuff you have no idea about. Look at all their current stars, other than Farrior if you consider him a star were all either drafted or UFA like Harrison. Hampton, Harrison, Woodley, Polamalu are all in house.

Green Bay boxed Favre and Rodgers or else they're an afterthought. Like they were for nigh on 30 years.

Obviously, the mystique of Lombardi, Starr, Hornung, et al. is vast. But that's a massive hole in franchise legitimacy that makes them have a much greater risk of falling into obscurity than a Steelers or a Yankees.

I mean, people give the Cowboys **** for not winning a playoff game for 17 years, and rightfully so. Add 11 years to that and you basically have the Packers.

I think it's much less likely that the Steelers boxed all these guys than that the team has developed and inculcated a culture of winning and an ethos of toughness.

Whether or not they are free agents or draft picks it speaks to the organization's quality that they turn out players who perform at a high level throughout the vast majority of the last 40 years.

I misspoke when I spoke of attracting marquee players, but the larger point is inarguable. The Steelers have made themselves emblematic of the ethos of football. The Packers, despite their rich history, have not. When one says PACKERS Football is conjures up Vince Lombardi. When you say STEELERS football that carries with it the imprimatur of toughness (and has for 40 years).

i agree with this

As for #1 NFL team, I think the pro-Packers one is reasonable, but so is the Cowboys'.

oh thought from the tone of your posts you were the one who drafted steelers.

regardless your arguments against the packers are arbitrary and stupid. and I don't even understand the luckboxing QB argument given the context of the NFL so I won't try and debunk it.

Oh yeah, totally forgot that the Steelers were, with a liberal enough definition of "aid and comfort", borderline treasonous.

I think there's 5 picks I'd be really happy with if I could get them with my next pick and about 5 more that would be pretty good.
