Froome is a better TTer than Landa, so I assume they still ride for Froome no matter what.

(Similar to 2012, where Froome was stronger than Wiggins in the mountains, but they rode for Wiggins because Wiggins is a better TTer.)

The commissaires are a ****ing joke at this point. Good thing Barguil won the sprint today or they'd have had to find reasons to dq the other 3.

I was all ready to praise Sky's tactics, but then Froome/Kwiatkowski go and ride for Aru. Answers on a postcard.

finally got to catch up on the last two stages...man they were great. ending on like a 20% grade is elite for end drama, and the short, but challenging stage today was incredible. non stop attacks from everyone. it's just a shame these stages weren't on the weekend.

Gotta love Contador. Knows he can't win so he's gonna blow **** up, mess it up for Froome and try to get another Spaniard into the mix.

Since this thread has talked about stupid traditions a bit, how do you guys feel about the tradition of never challenging for the GC on the last day? It would be damn near impossible to overtake in Paris anyway (barring a crash or mechanical or the yellow jersey being injured or something), but seems stupid af to me that a grand tour builds to a peak of some team calmly strolling through sipping champagne.

Well nothing is stopping anyone from trying. It's just so impossible because of the sprint trains. How do you get away from a peloton all working for the sprinters on a total flat stage which just does laps? I think attempts have been made, in the 80's.

Sick Aru lost yellow here. He was just badly positioned in the peloton from like 4k out or more. Froome didn't win it back since Martin and Uran finished alongside it was Aru that lost it.

26 seconds lost in a peloton finish. JFC.

Aru finishes behind Contador in the GC. Not recovering from this.

The TV coverage was bad for the last 5 km. Where exactly was Aru before that last climb and how did he got dropped?

People call it a tradition, but it's more like reality. Quickstep and Dimension Data, etc. don't give a crap about Aru vs Froome. They do care about getting Kittel, EBH, Griepel, etc. in position to sprint. Aru can attempt any breakaway he wants. Quickstep is never going to let it work.

What the **** is Aru doing?

Edit: Valgren basically **** Aru in the post race interview without fully doing it.

My favourite part of the ITV coverage is when David Millar and Ned Boulting pretend not to be reading a monologue about whatever tourist attraction they're obligated to promote.

I'm a fan of Millar as a commentator/pundit.

There should be way more interactive graphics to let us figure where we are in the stage, who is where, gaps, etc... I kept looking up at the stage profile on my smartphone to know how far away we are from the climb, how late X is in the general classification and little things like that.

If they want to attract more casual followers who don't know too much about cycling, they're going to need to make it easier for them because they can't recognize riders by face/number
It's so weird that they're not showing the time difference between Martin and the chasing group right now. I could swear that previous Tours had room for more than 2 groups.

in the USA, it isn't terrible. you get a constant distance to finish indicator and get up to like 4 or 5 groups across the top. martin is about 1:30 ahead.
