Does seem bizarre that anyone would root for them against the likes of Carlisle. Sadly looks like they will go back up to the Championship. I like Gary Mac, just a shame he's ended up back at that horrible place.

And errrrrr...Premiership thread?

Everyone doesn't hate Liverpool. Sorry, you can't have that badge of honor. Everyone hates Chelsea, and most hate United. Liverpool are way back there on par with Arsenal when it comes to hate from "everyone".

Liverpool are hated by the middle aged folks for the same reason United are now, jealousy. And the fact that fans who keep on winning become pretty insufferable after a while, I think it's a law of nature.

Leeds owe their period of dominance in the 70s to kicking teams off the park even their last league title was won by Howard Wilkinson in a stict 442 direct style.
Manchester city/utd and Liverpool/Everton hate them because they’re on the other side of the Pennines the Sheffield clubs hate them because they’re their local rivals, Chelsea hate them following a game in the 70’s which became a punch up. Everyone else hates them because their huge hooligan firm in the 70s and 80s and the generally threatening atmosphere that surround away visits to this day.

Liverpool are way way ahead of Arsenal in the hate stakes.

The reason the top teams attract so much animosity is due to the large number of glory hunters that they attract in their fan base, who tend to be the most up themselves when it comes to "we won the league" and "we did this or that". Old argument on here, no point bringing it up again.

This is half right.

People dont hate united because they are jealous. Not around here anyway.

People round here hate them because their fans are the most obnoxious, self absorbed, blinkered gob****es you could ever hope to meet.

During the 80's they were truly hated and they'd won **** all for years. There was nothing to be jealous of. They wouldnt accept that there was a team better than their own back then the same way they dont accept it now if anyone beats them.

Talking to the old boys, they tell it that nobody gave a **** at all about them before '58. Then everyone started jumping on the sympathy bandwagon and the club amassed the armchair army that it retains to this day.

Thats when people started getting ****ty about them. Their new found fan base was huge and none of them would hear a bad word said about the poor unfortunate club they had claimed as their own. - If there ever was any jealousy you can attribute it to this and not the cabinate of silverware they never won through the 70s, 80's and early 90s.

As a side note, the reds I know who go to the games refuse to go in the pub to watch their away games because they're embarrased by the armchair army fukwits that hang around their club, and fair play to them for that.

Everything thats been said about Leeds is true and I just want to add these few notes.

The last time they played at Maine Road most of their fans ripped the seats out (no big deal - we've all done that) but there were some Leeds animals who took a **** on their seat instead wtf? Also, coach loads of them used to stop in my part of town on their way to games in the M/cr area. They always trashed the pubs and they always ran amock in the village. They got a right kicking one year i remember when alot of the locals were waiting for them. They havent been back recently. We still get the Geordies, Sunderland and Boro passing through and Wolves and Stoke stop here on their way up north but they just get pissed.

As for everyone hating Liverpool...?????? Dunno about that and Im a Manc.

One story I have from a journalist with one of the broadsheets: She lived near Highbury and had had her car nicked. She dutifully reported it to the police expecting nothing more than a crime number but was surprised to be told that there was a strong chance her car would be recovered. Everton had played Arsenal the day before and it was common for cars stolen in Merseyside to turn up in London whilst cars stolen in London would turn up in Merseyside whenever the liverpool teams played in the capital.

Aparantly they walk along the parked cars bouncing them, looking for one with a full tank.

Get a ****ing job you work shy set of bastards.

Pre-season predictions (final position in parenthesis):

1. Chelsea (2)
2. Manchester United (1)
3. Liverpool (4)
4. Arsenal (3)
5. Tottenham (11)
6. Portsmouth (8)
7. Blackburn (7)
8. Everton (5)
9. Bolton (16)
10. West Ham (10)
11. Manchester City (9)
12. Newcastle (12)
13. Aston Villa (6)
14. Middlesbrough (13)
15. Fulham (17)
16. Sunderland (15)
17. Reading (18)
18. Birmingham (19)
19. Wigan (14)
20. Derby (20)

Big Misses:

Tottenham - I drank the Kool-Aid, considered putting them ahead of Arsenal at the time, good thing I didn't
Bolton - Should have known better
Villa - Probably should have seen this one coming, but I didn't do much preparation for these predictions
Wigan - I think most thought Wigan would be in a relegation battle

Correct guesses:

Blackburn
West Ham
Newcastle
Derby

Eight other teams off by 1
Three off by 2

How'd everyone else do?

how's your ban going anyway? Im just going to check back and see what it was for. Something trivial I hope.

raju, seriously, when you keep your comments to football you post some good stuff. Sadly you let yourself down by showing continually your lack of respect for others (the Munich stuff for eg.) and your lack of respect for property and general hooligan/vandalistic tendencies as displayed in this post for example.

If being an ASBO candidate is what you feel is normal behaviour and anyone else boring, I am sorry for you.
