and I just watched the replay of the Moss/Merriweather play 5 times, there is absolutely no way Moss lost track of the ball - from the end zone camera view you can see his eyes tracking the ball...he follows it coming down, and sees it bounce...anyone watching MNF Countdown can rewind it, just happened

If Moss knew where that ball was and didn't go for it, he is intentionally sabotaging the team. Not just "not trying"

yeah, no way that is plausible from a guy who once said

"I play when I want to play," Moss said. "Do I play up to my top performance, my ability every time? Maybe not.

i'll say it again: it's so incredibly delusional to think that Moss is the only one doing this, or that he's even a minority

if he is signed for another year, or if his production was still super high, or if he wasn't causing problems, then they probably just keep him, but the sum total of all those things < 3rd rounder

now, all those things still exist, but I think the sum total of that > the 53rd guy on your roster
I Agree with declining production and last year on contract. but as far as off field issues no. Moss was not as problem all the years he was here in New England. As a matter of fact that whole time he was here he was somewhat a team leader. And that whole problem child thing was just carried over from his starting days with Minn. Which we had long forgotten about.

TBH saw that same view and he actually kind of flinched when the ball bounced right in front of him. I think he lost track of it and it surprised him.

He has no control of this team, and they are vastly underperforming. I generally believe that teams fire coaches too quickly and that bad teams have awful management and/or have bad players. It's obvious that Childress needs to go. This team is lacking serious direction.

I've watched it a bunch of times now and I think he definitely looks away from the ball as he's stumbling and regaining balance, in fact it looks as though he's trying to keep his focus on it but isn't able to. He might have had a chance if he laid out for it after he regained his footing and found the ball again but even that I'm not sure about. The slow motion makes it look so much worse than it actually was, there was roughly one second between him having to look away from the ball and it landing.

I went back and watched that a couple times, he looks down at his feet at one point and then looks back up.

That's fine.

Most other players don't have ridiculous splits between when they want to and when they don't want to play. It's not like Randy has 100% stats and 90% stats. He has 100% stats and 50% stats. When he's putting up those 50% stats, he's just not that valuable.

and thats where you are completely wrong, when hes getting those 50% stats its because the other team is effectively removing him from the game, at the expense of rolling coverage to his side. yes obviously that is less valuable but its still very valuable

So did the over the top safety coverage of him get invented in 2010? If only someone had known about this miraculous defensive strategy in 2007 when he came to NE, talked about how motivated he was, and dropped like infinity touchdowns and receptions.

Maybe teams used that coverage when he was in Oakland in 2006, and completely sucked, and admitted to not playing that hard. Then they forgot in 2007, 2008. Then started doing it again in 2010 when he's been traded away by the smartest team in football and released after two weeks of play.

I'll gladly take Moss "not trying" for the Rams and catching 5 td's in 8 games. We desperately need a real wide receiver.

1998. The line was 10.5-13. I was there.
