Not to mention that while a "general" thread is what I prefer more than anything, it does sort of splinter the conversation. kidcolin is capable of posting in nine threads at once but very few are that gifted.
subforum ftw. use your mod powers!

All this time I thought you guys were joking about a subforum. Is this really something you want? Clark? It's not out of the realm of possibility and would get all the NBA threads off the front page, but I can't imagine there's enough threads to sustain an entire forum. Seems like a long shot anyway.

I thought the sub-forum was a joke too. If we have one in-game thread, two conference threads for the first round, and a thread for each series starting with the second round, that's at most five threads at a time. During NFL season there are way more NFL threads than that. I don't see what the big deal is about filling the front page.

Although I rarely contribute to this forum, it is my favorite one on 2+2.
But lately I am getting annoyed with all these mega threads, it really takes the pleasure away from reading this forum.

As long as it is sports related, I think an individual thread should be allowed to be made.

nah not kidding at all about the subforum. all i read are nba threads anyways and if i read anything else i usually consider it a distraction. plus baseball nerds are starting their yearly fever and the nhl in full bloom and all that.

LETS DO IT

Individual series threads are blah. The giant NBA thread is awesome, and anyone who disagrees smells. I love that the discussion is league-wide rather than a bunch of homers holed up with each other (which works fine for baseball). There is no barrier to entry in the giant thread. Just read the last day's worth of posts and you're fine. Nobody's going to jump on you if you're a new poster and you fail to get a reference from 3 months ago.

I'd just like a separate in-game thread, but that's mostly so I can avoid spoilers, and that appears to be a pipe-dream with all you donkeys stuck in the 18th century.

As far as the playoffs are concerned, I'm more concerned about non-NBA posters who say they hate the big threads than I am about the contributors who, LDO, say they love it.

The playoffs naturally generate more conversation, and to me the key is making it as accessible to everyone as possible. I'm less concerned about a few too many threads than I am about alienating a bunch of people who otherwise would contribute.

We don't need a subforum.

If we create the subforum I will troll it so it looks like we are getting more traffic than we really are.

I think this needs to be considered before we rush to judgment on this whole "no subforum" thing.

True, we don't need a subforum, but it would be really sweet if we did! Show those Golfers how we roll, sorry tuq.

Yeah, you guys do whatever, if we need to lock or merge to suit everyone's tastes we can do that, but we need to make a decision soon. I'm going to be away from the computer most of the day though.

Well it looks like it'll be between the one for each round and one for each series. I think having just one thread that encompasses all series would become one monstrous mismash, whereas having one for each series would at least allow for some organization. Although there's the chance that 1 or 2 would be pretty quiet (and one would be completely one sided in terms of represention - *cough* kryptonite *cough*), I think it's by far the better option.

Not too late to convert the current EC thread to Cavs/Wiz and the impending West thread to Spurs/Suns.

Or to just make the current EC thread the in-game thread with separate general East and West discussions.

I'd just like to chime in and say that the current format sucks. It fragments the conversation way too much.

agreed.

just got a call on speakerphone from bobbofitos and gary stevenson as they sat in traffic getting out of the c's game.

gary commented on the fact that he would like to contribute to the discussion, but the multiple threads makes things way too scattered.

megathread for the win IMO.

Or even East/West would be alright b/c the threads are going to carry even when there are only two teams in the ECF and WCF.
