Well, South Florida's OOC sched is just pathetically lol aside from Florida State, but they've been steady mobbin' with a freshman at quarterback. If they can make a game of it with Cincy next week, they should be recognized as pretty legit. They do also play Miami late in the season.

People are really high on Oregon for them winning 4 home games and dominating a probably marginal Cal team.

Nice to see Auburn finally getting some respect. We should be a couple of point faves at Arkansas this week. That'll be a tough game and a shootout.

I'm only arguing that you cannot rank Oregon over Boise. I'd be fine if he ranked Boise #24 and Oregon #25. Boise's entire dark house MNC bid is based upon Oregon winning the Pac10. Also, Cal sucks.

I'll just do a top 10.

1. Alabama - the most complete team in college football.
2. Texas - The Red River Shootout in two weeks is likely the first real read we'll get on how good this team is.
3. Florida - looked "pretty good" against the one decent team they've played so far.
4. Virginia Tech - Tyrod Taylor is improving. What if Darren Evans didn't get hurt?
5. Boise State - road games at Tulsa and Hawaii are likely the only real obstacles remaining for BSU.
6. USC - they haven't locked down the Pac-10 yet. Can they win in Eugene?
7. Ohio State - dominant defense is capable of carrying the still-improving offense.
8. Cincinnati - if the Buckeyes had actually lost to an in-state team in the past 88 years, I'd consider putting Cincy at #7.
9. LSU - nearly as unconvincing a #4 as Ole Miss. Will likely lose to Florida whether Tebow plays or not.
10. Miami - the loss to Va Tech wasn't pretty, but Miami easily has the best set of quality wins in football.

Why not? Can I have Michigan ranked higher than Michigan State?

Do I have to have Washington ahead of USC?

Really? I thought each of the teams played more than 1 game.

Based solely on what one has done on the field.

AP
1 Florida (54) 4-0 1486
Wins vs. two lower tier SEC teams
2 Texas (1) 4-0 1416
Beat mid/lower tier BigXII
3 Alabama (5) 5-0 1404
Beat VA Tech and two lower tier SEC teams
4 LSU 5-0 1290
Beat lower tier Pac10 and beat mid tier SEC
5 Virginia Tech 4-1 1200
Beat top tier ACC and mid tier BigXII
6 Boise State 5-0 1185
Beat top/mid? tier Pac10
7 USC 4-1 1108
Beat top tier Big10
8 Cincinnati 5-0 1004
No quality wins
9 Ohio State 4-1 994

8. Miami
9. Cincinnati
10. Ohio State

awval: You might want to consider the fact that "what a team has done on the field" includes more information than just what their best win looked like.

I suppose thats true. But isn't it all about the wins? I kinda liked back in the day where the BCS would give bonus points for quality wins.

In that case, why isn't Washington in the top 5? I mean they have the best quality win of all.

That system was screwy. In 04, Auburn had a quality win over Tennessee until they beat them again in the SECCG and knocked them out of the top 10.

Because in addition to the quality win they have 3 losses.

Also, if @Washingon is a quality win for LSU, @Oregon State should definitely be a quality win for Cincinatti.

So we are allowed to use more than 1 game to determine how good a team is after all?
