Boise's still good at football, why is one game that they didn't even play in suddenly changing what's happened the last 27 games?
There's choking against a Medicore opponent, and there's losing at home to a (good) FCS team. yeah, VT might be decent, but they are most definitely not top 10 or even top 15 in terms of raw strength. If Boise would have wafflecrushed VT, it wouldn't mean too much to Boise, but they needed a come from behind last minute drive to win. It all comes down to "what can you conclude from Boise from their resume?" We figured out earlier in the season that if all 120 FBS teams played their schedule, on average, 6 would be undefeated. That was even assuming VT was a top 10 team. Drop VT to 20, and I'm sure that number goes up even more. All we know about Boise is they are likely a top 7 team if they run the table. If no one else is more impressive, go for it. But teams do look more impressive already. Ohio State played like horses ass and still beat Miami easily. Oklahoma crushed the hell out of FSU. Oregon destroyed Tennessee in Neyland Stadium. Alabama crushed Penn State. You can't just rank teams based on their power rankings, and even if you did, Boise fails in their narrow escape against the only decent team they play all season. They may be the best team in the country, but they need to prove it (just like every other team).

I don't hate Boise; I simply will never take them seriously. Anyone can get up for one game. It's the Oregon States and Stanfords tripping up a USC on an off night, the Ole Miss catching Florida, the Purdue and Illinois catching the Buckeyes on off weeks that makes it impossible to give Boise any credit beyond Top 10. Their schedule as constructed is that they play complete cans; they can have 9 off weeks with no risk of losing even if they are totally off their game. Not much they can do with a tiny stadium in an inconvienent location, but it is what it is. As long as CFB pays the bills, there is no upside to playing them. I blame Title IX.

Not sure where to put this, but the writers that vote in the I-AA poll did not put JMU #1. Villanova who lost to Temple last weekend and App State who barely beat Chattanooga are #s 1 and 2.

Joke?

I'm not sure it's appropriate to fault a I-AA team for losing to a I-A team. But it should help them more than beating a team like Chattanooga.

Seems odd.

I know teams fill their schedules well in advance. But that article is almost a year old and it sounds like that AD had been trying for quite awhile. It's not definitive by any means, but it does show that 10 teams that presumably had an opening turned them down. Good for Ole Miss for signing up though. They gonna get raped.

Teams are going to generally schedule for a favorable BCS schedule. The big schools line up the big opponents a decade in advance. Very few teams want to schedule more than 1 premier OOC opponent per season for good reason. Even if teams have an opening in 5 years, it might be the year they are scheduled to play USC or Oklahoma, and screw playing both them and Boise the same season along with a real conference schedule. I mean it sucks for Boise, but they'll eventually get some opponents if they schedule like everyone else. They also aren't a huge draw for fans, so that works against them as well. Even if a team like USC is in a down year, fans would rather see their team play USC than Boise. Maybe that will change, but these things will take time. Boise has made incredible strides in a very short time, it just may take a bit more to get from where they are to the elite level. Or maybe they'll fall off into nothing.

I'm fine with dropping the t if we refer to ok state as cowboy state and just don't ever talk about oregon state.

As far as I know the Brothers Rodgers haven't already accepted defeat at the hands of Boise St.

Wrt future scheduling, they'll be playing tcu, air force, and byu every year, and Wyoming is a good step up from #5 in the WAC as well. Also they'll probably be in the PAC 12 (16? Switch with a crappy school? Who knows) a few years down the line anyways, males sense for them and the conference. Academics would gave to step up first though, although then again lolASU

Boise St is highly overrated every year IMO

they would have 2 losses every year if they played the SEC, BigXII, Pac Ten, or Big Ten

FWIW, the current rankings up on Massey are a pretty good starting point IMO

1. Bama
2. tOSU
3. Oregon
4. Florida
5. TCU

6. Texas
7. Boise
8. Oklahoma
9. LSU
10. Iowa

11. Nebraska
12. Utah
13. T Tech
14. Stanford
15. South Carolina

16. USC
17. Arkansas
18. Zona
19. Cal
20. Wisconsin

21. Penn St
22. Auburn
23. Air Force
24. Miami
25. Georgia

I'd move Boise and TCU down a little. I'd move T Tech down. I think the better one loss teams, Penn St, Miami, and Georgia, are a bit low.
But, pretty good overall.

I understand we are all caught up a bit in the Denard Robinson legend right now as his first two games have been nothing short of amazing. However, if he gets hurt (and I agree that he is more likely to get hurt than average by a significant margin), Michigan has a very capable back-up that would be starting for 3/4 of the teams in FBS.

Nice to see that barely beating the UNC Junior Varsity squad and an uninspiring win over Vandy will get you top 10 status. LOLSU.

Yeah, early season ratings are stupid.

Dont know how byu leaving slipped my mind there.

Forcier is third string mt2r, behind a true freshman.

LSU's win over Vandy is one of the most impressive wins of the season so far.
Though, I agree that their offense has been sluggish and their 4th qtr pass defense against UNC was horrible.
I can see them dropped a few spots ~16 range.
