Baseball, when the pitcher is removed the DH also has to come out and a new DH enters.

NFL, if you line up to go for it on 4th down you can't call timeout and a delay of game is a turn over on downs. So sick of teams "just trying to draw them offsides" makes for an awful product.

NFL (basketball also) do like the NHL, one timeout per team per game. 6 was probably OK like 30 years ago before there was like 12 TV timeouts, 6 or 7 reviews and with many coaches "never take a TO to the locker room" mentality it's making football so painful to watch.

NBA if it is a 3 point game in the final minute and the referee judges that team A fouls to prevent team B from shooting a 3 the penalty should be 2 shots plus maintaining possession of the ball

Stoppage Time:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...ly-inaccurate/

"Our findings confirmed what avid fans already know: Actual stoppage time is a wildly inaccurate measure of how long the game was actually stopped. The average added time flashed on the board for these 32 games was 6:59, which includes both halves. By our calculations — which adhered to FIFA’s rules on the matter — the time that should have been added to each game was 13:10. This means stoppage time was roughly half of what it should have been for most games."

Just let the timekeeper keep the damn time on the scoreboard.
This is trivially easy: When play is stopped, the ref will - instead of clicking a button on his watch - signal to the timekeeper. who then starts the Stoppage Time Clock, and stops it when the ref signals for play to resume.

Once the game clock hits 45:00, this clock starts to count down. Since additional time may need to be added for actions that occurred during stoppage time, it will still be up to the ref to decide when the game ends after the 2nd clock hits zero.

No slapping hands after every single baseketball foul shot. Hit or miss in a 40pt game, never understood it.

Every sport has some version of it. Women's volleyball probably wins for most dap given.

No foul out in hoops. They are throwing guys out of games for ticky tack and worse, for perfect defense.

Yep. Just assess an extra free throw for a 7th foul+ in NBA or 6th+ Foul in NCAABB.

NFL OT rule: Each team gets the ball at 3 yard line. Play until one team scores and the other team does not. Give each team 2 points per each score for betting/scorekeeping purposes.

Assuming scoring is 50/50, statistically it is the quickest method to end the game given both teams have an opportunity to score.

I know fans want to see another quarter or so of football, but running 15-20 extra plays takes its toll on both teams. Data shows that teams coming off OT perform at a worse level the following week.

Yea, +1.
I was going to post something almost identical to this, except I had each team starting from the 2-yard line, and each score counting 1 point. Also, no coin flip - visiting team goes 1st, home team second. If it's still tied after the 1st round, switch the order and repeat.

This covers all concerns:
Player Health: It minimizes to the greatest extend possible the additional risk to player safety from playing an extended overtime period
Fairness: It's as fair as you could possibly make it to both teams -The game is decided on the field, with no team gaining an advantage based on a coin flip.

It also keeps the scores from becoming artificially bloated (I'm assuming the bettors would prefer this), keeps the length of the game from approaching 4 hours, etc, etc...

Tries to make a salient point:

Uses Tebow as his example:

All 4 major sports. No more than 8 teams make the playoffs. If you are not in the top 25% of teams you do not deserve to compete for the championship. I know this will never happen because it is a business and owners need the money but I think it would improve sports. LOL NFL expanding the playoffs it was so much better with Pittsburgh and Philly in the playoffs. Even baseball who had it right just a few years ago are following the other sports with the almost 50% of teams get in.

Baseball just get rid of the appeal. It's ridiculous, if the umpire sees someone leave early on a tag or miss a base just call them out on the spot. In football if a team has 12 men on the field or in basketball if someone steps on the line it is not the other teams responsibility to point out those violations. Just call it!

The opposing team has more invested in getting the call right than the ump. Refs should have less power not more.

This is a trivial change to address a virtually non-existent problem. How many appeals are there a year? Maybe a dozen? But it is still a good idea. Appeals in baseball are idiotic.

Misread the post. Yes the umps should just ring the guy up on check swings without appeals, same if guy doesn't tag up properly, or misses a base running the bases.

NBA, for each missed FG attempt award defensive team 1 point.

Ball needs to touch rim or backboard. Blocked shots also qualify.

Agree with both of your last 2 suggestions. In 10 years or less baseball will have 16 teams in the playoffs and still play 162 games for nothing.

Idk if enough people have seen this movie. It’s really damn good. It’s not something I can see myself re-watching like so many Adam Sandler movies, but it’s obviously way different than really anything else he’s done.

yeah Uncut Gems was really really good.

Not something I'd re-watch for fun, but Sandler absolutely killed it in that role.
