I kid you not.
I thought it was just marathon & wrestling in the good old days (and maybe discuss).

I could have this somewhat wrong (will fact check later) but one of the LEGO owners here or heirs simply bought one of the best dressage horses/pedigrees for one of his kids and now he is the proud father of an Olympian.
The show jumping and cross country stuff are pretty good but dressage is just so bad IMO. Whatever I guess, the one thing that I do like about equestrian events is that both men & women compete.

Dueling pistols anyone?
Motorboating? (one for Nolan Dalla)
Solo Synchronised Swimming - Eh?
Two handed Javelin

Two handed Javelin? WTF? Then I looked it up and it was 3 throws with the left hand and 3 with the right hand so not quite as dumb as I thought.

Dueling Pistols with paint ball guns would be an elite event.

The thing that amazes me about fencing is how the judges can tell who gets the points so quickly and accurately.
I assume that's why they have the electronic suit and helmet on...so the judges can tell who touched first.

Totally.
The BBC love-in for Daley is ridiculous. He's only ever won bronze at the Olympics yet they seem to treat him like he's Redgrave.

Edit: Another gold today and we could get to 3rd in the table.

Watching men's all-around individual final and seeing a fall reminds me of earlier in the Olympics and how 20 years later the Simpsons still are relevant...

Warning: contains footage of actual broken leg...

Its based on how well controlled, and how much of the throw is making your opponent on their back, as opposed to their side etc...

Must be crushing to train for 4 years and then get snap ipponed (100 pt move) and be out in 10 seconds.

So apparently CBC doesn't have live streaming for every event. Any other Canadians know where I can watch events like handball or water polo?

They play US in semis not quarter, so whatever doesn't change medal odds at all

Pretty sure playing us in quarters = no medal; in semis = chance for bronze

right, my bad.

so now they will only have 1 chance at a medal the bronze one rather than 2 (one chance for bronze one chance for silver). seems like medal odds change to me especially as there doesn't seem to be a non-US country dominating

Odds definitely change by getting the USA in a semi-final as opposed to a final (I think I said this yesterday.

Assuming

USA vs France
Australia vs Serbia in semis

Also assuming the other three teams are even and USA in invincible

France have a 50% chance of bronze and a 50% chance of nothing
Australia have a 50% chance of silver, a 25% chance of bronze and a 25% chance of nothing
Serbia have a 50% chance of silver, a 25% chance of bronze and a 25% chance of nothing

Its a pretty big equity swing. Serbia should still get past Venezuela and China easy
