That's a terrible metric to use, a lot of ppl today would prob say Walking Dead is one of their favorite TV shows and that Dexter is still a great show

Goldeneye was a weekend rental for me when I was in middle school and I pretty much forgot about it thereafter

For a lot of people it was prob the first time they played a video game where they could be like "omg I can SHOOT AT MY FRIENDS?!?" while blissfully unaware that you could do the same thing on the interwebz w/ PC games, and people's ignorance doth not a great game make

Meh, it seems about right to me.

It was a popular game, but once you get past that there was nothing particularly special about it. There are still so many good games on the board that it really feels closer to 3rd round value than 2nd.

This is the Xbox game ASPoker was referring to...console shooters pre-2008 are just so overrated on the whole, Halo chief among them

The original Halo is still my favorite FPS of all time. Sidewinder, Blood Gulch, Hang Em High are probably my favorite multiplayer maps ever.

I think I need an RPG.

Thankfully (or not) there aren't too many picks to catch up on today.

Majora's Mask-Great, great pick. Like Chrono Trigger, it wasn't afraid to try causality stuff out and pulled a lot of it off really, really well. Well designed game all around and has aged great.

Techmo Bowl-I don't get it. Never did. I get that at the time, the chance to play real-ish football on NES was huge, but it's not a good game outside of the wow-at-the-time factor. It's basically rock-paper-scissors against a football backdrop (which is pretty much all Madden still is, so maybe they were just onto it quicker).

Halo-Not my style but obv a great game. Told an engaging story and was well executed. The jump from its predecessors in terms of console FPS games was pretty huge.

Earthbound-Was wondering who'd take a shot at this one. Great originality and style. Holds up well enough.

I would have taken Halo in round one easily

SMW - excellent pick, probably my favorite Mario game (and arguably the best) that's been taken so far.

MVP2005 - ok? seems like a biggish reach

Mario Kart - excellent pick

Majora's Mask - reach, BAsaint makes a good point that you get OoT's little brother so it loses some luster.

others - ok

Earthbound - one of my favorites OAT. super game, super pick, I hate you for taking it because I thought we could get it in the 5th or something but that is ******ed I suppose. Needs to be stressed how awesome/funky the music of Earthbound was. Boss battle was one of my favorites:

Ugh, can't believe Earthbound went! Its my favorite game of all time probably, but I thought it'd slip(was hoping I could get it in 4th). It didn't sell well at all in America. If you're an Earthbound fan(or interested in learning about the game) this is a must watch:
