Its ok though, rest of Scottish squad has tested negative using lateral flow tests.

Massive false negative results result from that test, absolute joke if they have not had to to PCR.

Random thought : the whole point of playing both games at the same time is to prevent from giving away information to teams on what they need to qualify but this gets cancelled by the "best 3rd" format where the teams playing later will know what is needed to get best 3rd

Seems like a completely paradoxal situation and another reason why 24-teams euro is terrible, as I said : UEFA shoul stop pretending they care about integrity and competitiveness and stop scheduling double-games, only more $$ for them

32 teams with a qualification tournament in the summer the year before could be cool. the usual qualification but with 32 teams going through would be even more of a drag it already is

You dilute the competition though. The Euros use to be amazing, every game basically had something on the line and qualification was actually decent because there was the threat of not qualifying.

Very curious to read the methodology as to why it's only Chillwell & Mount who have to self isolate due to contact with Gilmour but not the rest of the national squad

I'm assuming said methodology looks like something like this

Yeah but that's gone anyway. There's probably not a noticeable difference between 17-24 and 25-32, and you'd solve the format problems.

Qualifying would be awful, but let's be real, it already is.

i thought ukraine were a lot better than this after the netherlands game. 3 points -1 in goals with a lot of goals scored still has a chance though

I don't get the hate for this format. It keeps everything interesting up until the last games.
We had this format at the last Euros. Portugal finished 3rd and won the thing.

It was also the format used in three World Cups. 1986, 1990 and 1994 and nobody complained about it then, in fact 86 and 94 are widely considered to be two of the best ever tournaments. Argentina in 1990 and Italy in 1994 both reached the final after finishing 3rd in their groups.
