I agree. JC plays so well unless it is the last drive of the game, at which point he cannot get it in the EZ. Is this like the 5th game this year where we are within 1 score, with the ball in opponent territory late in the 4th quarter and don't score?
The exact same thing happened in the Dallas game.

Losing Taylor for the rest of the year (id assume) is a huge blow, redskins run soooo badly its ridiculous. Thank god Arizona choked making us still have a shot. Wildcard is even more ridiculous now, with Minny, Chicago, and NO all at 5-6 now, turning the 4 team race into a 7 team race.

I'm going to defend JC, even though he has made some mistakes admittedly. I've followed him ever since he was at Auburn, and I've always been impressed with his leadership, calmness under pressure, and decisionmaking. I think he still has considerable upside if he gets in the right system.

Vs. the Bucs, he had to score a touchdown with no timeouts against a very experienced defense that only had to defend the sidelines and the end zone. In addition, he's working in an offense that has no standout skill players imo, with an OL that doesn't protect the passer that well from what I've seen.

I definetly think JC is the QB of the future. He constantly makes good decisions, he just needs to work on the last drive of the game. And frankly, I think that is all experience and confidence and that will improve over time.

I don't follow the Redskins all that closely, but I think that within a couple of years JC will be a top 7-8 QB in the league. The kid has a lot of poise and all the tools.

God needed a Safety. He's now playing man-to-man coverage on Jesus and probably kicking his ass.

RIP Sean Taylor

Redskins follow their standard gameplan of completely dominating the first half but scoring no points, and then completely sucking in the second half and giving the game away. Special shout out to Gibbs for not knowing a rule that my 8 year old cousin knew.

Gibbs in post game press conference: "I knew the rule but in the heat of the moment I forgot it." Great excuse, why not just come out and say "I am going senile and can't make important decisions?" The game shouldn't have been in the position for the Bills to even still be in it, but seriously wow, Gibbs has to go. Didn't think this week could get much worse but it somehow did.

I would give him a break this week. It was a pretty rough game though to lose though, just like all of them have been.

He got killed because he is a thug . It was probably related to drugs. Should not surprise to anyone.

Anyone in the DC area know what channel the Skins game is being broadcast on? I can't find anything indicating it's being broadcast anywhere aside from NFL Network

Interesting post I saw on footballguys. Portis has only made one pro bowl in his entire career, which is really odd for someone of his calibre(I've always maintained that hes underrated, as he really does do a lot of little things that go unnoticed). Anyway, in these years he missed out. Listed are his stats and the stats of a guy that made it over him....

2002 G ATT YDS TD REC YDS TD
Portis 16 273 1508 15 33 364 2
Henry 16 325 1438 13 43 309 1

2004 G ATT YDS TD REC YDS TD
Portis 15 343 1315 5 40 235 2
Green 15 259 1163 7 40 275 1
Westbrook 12 177 812 3 73 703 6

2005 G ATT YDS TD REC YDS TD
Portis 16 352 1516 11 30 216 0
Dunn 16 280 1416 3 29 220 1

2007 G ATT YDS TD REC YDS TD
Portis 14 280 1082 8 38 314 0
Barber 14 175 869 9 40 259 2

interesting post from FO:

"Thirty-three percent of the rushing yards by Minnesota's running backs have come 10 yards past the line of scrimmage or beyond, making this offense most likely to gain ground with long runs. Only 7 percent of rushing yards against Washington's defense have come 10 yards past the line of scrimmage or beyond, making it the defense least likely to allow you to gain ground with long runs. (The NFL average, by the way, is 17 percent.)"

I like Portis, but I don't really have a problem with Green, Westbrook, Dunn and Barber making the Pro-Bowl over him in 04, 05 & 07. All those guys seem to blow him away in YPC Average.

Looks like he was definitely snubbed in 2002 though.

More injury problems, it appears. From Jason LaCanfora's Blog on WaPo.com:

Quote:
Safety Omar Stoutmire, re-signed Wednesday, could end up being active this week. There is some concern that starting free safety LaRon Landry was unable to run much at all today and missed practice with his quad injury. Veteran safety Pierson Prioleau is having a hamstring problem, which leaves only second-year man Reed Doughty, under-sized special teams ace Vernon Fox at Stoutmire as healthy safeties.

This sucks, earlier in the year we were taking pride in the fact that our secondary was made up of all first rounders. Now we've only got one of them left.

If we had known that the team would have to deal w/ all this adversity (multiple injuries to starters, murder of our best player) back in training camp, who would have guessed that we'd be playing such a big game in Week 16? I guess the players and coaches deserve some credit for that.

This is hindsight effect. The Voting isn't done at the end of the season.

Portis finished really strong (672 yards in his last 5 games) but that was after the voting.
