That would be quite an outlier from his performances this season. He's shooting 32% from 3 this year. He made more than 3 3s this year, it was last game when he went 4-12 from 3 and played the whole game--a game at home vs Miami where you guys won in OT. He also had 2 assists in 40 minutes of play as PG that game which is LOL. Last year he did that in the game where we didn't have Lawson. Lawson can't guard large combo guards but has not problems guarding midgets like himself.

Paulus at least gives Duke the possibility of offense from the PG position, something Nolan Smith doesn't do so overall I think Duke is a better team with Paulus on the floor. With that said, please let Paulus try to guard Lawson for 30+ minutes tonight.

If Lawson becomes your best player and go to guy for baskets then so be it. Gerald will get his share of help side blocks too.

You guys are forgetting the main weapon of Greg Paulus.

Paulus is the least of our worries. It is the refs they have me most worried. If we get an evenly officiated match I feel really good about our prospects.

you guys bitch so ****ing much its unbelievable. Talking about the refs before the game. Yes, we get some good calls in our favor. Guess what? We get some terrible ones too.

Kyle Singer vs. UNC (2 games): 12ppg, 9rpg, 2apg, 2spg, 2rpg 38.1% FG

Tyler Hansbrough vs. Duke last year (2 game): 22ppg, 16.5rpg, 0.5apg, 0.5spg, 0.5bpg, 47.6% FG

Tyler Hansbrough vs. Duke (career - 6 games): 21.2ppg, 12rpg, 0.3apg, 1.2spg, 0.8gpg, 49.5% FG

"mismatch" indeed.

I tend to agree with you, but do you think it's possible for Hansbrough to get ONE FT attempt in Cameron this year?

We are talking about an ACC game in CIS. Naturally, we are concerned about the officiating being unbalanced against us going into the game.

I'm simply saying an evenly officiated contest bodes well for UNC's chances.

And UNC will get the same treatment in a month. I'm sure Duke fans will be complaining before that game as well.

Yeah, comparing Singler to Tyler. Pure genius move by B there.

i don't get this post. unc clearly goes as lawson goes. if the main defense against penetration is going to be weak side rotation then awesome b/c that means dunks/open j's

edit: are you saying it's ok to give up penetration b/c henderson can rotate down? he is not a post player. as athletic as he is he is not going to be able to contest that many shots. he may pull off a highlight reel block or two but on the whole he is not going to keep prevent penetration on his own

do u think greg paulus asks coach k before the game to make sure he isn't on the court at the same time with danny green again?

With all due respect mclaughlin you can't compare the two. Any observant ACC viewer would say the same.

Keep in mind that Tyler played 37 minutes in last year's game and took zero FTs.

I'm not saying Duke doesn't get the calls in Cameron, but you can't say that UNC doesn't get its share of calls either.

I think you hear the point I'm trying to make. If you don't agree with it that is fine.

Yes of course I understand the point, but I think it's stupid to complain about the refs at all as the deciding factor of the game, much less 5+ hours beforehand.

how many fta does tyler need for it to be fair? 8? 10? 12? 15? more?

you guys had more attempts than us at the line last year in the dean dome and still lost.

guess what? you also shot more ft at cameron than us last year.

2 years ago you had 11 more at home while we had 1 more attempt than you guys at cameron.

I'm having trouble finding some older box scores, but I see no evidence of us getting all the calls like unc people love to allude to.

If its a poorly officiated game it will go both ways as it always does. Its the same selective memory people apply to poker, they remember the things that went against them, but not what went for them because it provides comfort and an excuse.

Just look at whatever crew is doing the game when its about to tip and you'll know what to expect.

The argument that Duke gets all the calls is not only stupid, overblown, and widely talked about, it is also blatantly false. Looking through some recent box scores unc has a much higher ft differential at home than on the road. What does that mean? Its pretty unlikely that they get better calls at home imo.

UNC has a +202 ft differential in 23 games this season. Duke has a +168 ft differential in 23 games. We both get to the line a ****ing lot. Over the last 4 regular season games unc has actually outperformed its fta differential vs. duke. If they attempt 2+ more ft than Duke tonight they will do it again. I guess if Duke shoots more ft tonight I'll concede that we always get every call and its impossible to get fair officiating in cameron.
