Btw, zug, please reconsider your 1st pick

It's not quite as bad as when 64 wanted to draft a Heisman winner, but still ....

Deion had a very long stride. Lewis at CB will be able to gamble a lot and then use his speed to bail him out if someone gets behind him.

K, **** it, I'll continue my search for a decent QB when it comes back to me in round 3.

I don't care if you guys don't like the rugby picks, but I'm gonna take the BPA imo and select the best open-field tackler in rugby, Jerry Collins.

Writeup soon.

Guy's a beast. Nice pick.

Continuing with the rugby, sixfour selects Ugo Monye.

This draft is really going to suck if you guys keep taking Rugby players.

I didn't mean to compare Lewis to Deion if that is what is bothering you. Those two sentences were meant to be taken completely separately.

$10 says Assani doesn't take anyone in this draft I've heard of before this draft. Offer open to those who can do Stars transfers.

Round 2, Pick 28

Jerry Collins, New Zealand/Ospreys, LB

This is one mean dude. 6'3", 254 lbs. of pure hate. Ask any devoted rugby who the hardest hitters in the game are and you'll find Collins at or near the top of every list.

Collins plays as a flanker in rugby, and I think the skillset required to perform as one of the world's best flankers should make his transition to linebacker in our league almost seamless. Flankers help out in the pushing during scrums, but need to break away quickly in order to cover and tackle an opposition back if he wins the ball and attempts to dart down the field. Your best flankers are heavy and powerful enough to dominate rucks and mauls in loose-ball situations (pushing guys away from a loose ball so that your own player can pick it up), but they're also quick and agile enough to cover plenty of ground defensively and make key open-field tackles. Offensively speaking, you need deft hands to pick up passes and loose balls, whilst also possessing the vision and quick feet necessary to dodge a tackle or two and advance the ball downfield; in other words, not only do I expect Collins to make a pick or two, but he's a legit threat to turn it into 6 every time he causes a turnover. IMO, Jerry Collins has the potential to become the best and most dominating linebacker in our league.

Here are some clips of Mr. Collins, doing what he does best.

Team Geddy Lee:

Takudzwa Ngwenya, RB

Jerry Collins, LB

Only a sucker would take this bet without getting odds, although I have seen enough Providence games over the past few years that Geoff McDermott did ring a bell when he was picked.

ROUND 2 PICK 30
DWYANE WADE, WR/CB

Dwyane Wade is an incredible athlete, his first step and qucikness is nearly unrivaled in the NBA. These abilities should translate fluidly over to receiver with the ability to burst off of the line of scrimmage and make cuts into his routes leaving defenders hapless. Wade is one of the toughest players there is and he isn't afraid to initiate contact, often total disregard for his body. He's got the prototype size at 6'4" 212lb and obviously sick leaping ability plus good hands too.

"I thought I was good. I thought I was real good. I thought I could have been in the NFL one day. But I decided to stick with basketball because that's where my love really was. I don't have any second thoughts, not with the position I'm in."
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baske...-23-wade_x.htm

"Initially, Dwyane made a bigger impression on the football coaches at Richards [high school] than he did on Fitzgerald [basketball coach]. A gritty cornerback and wide receiver, he showed promise on the gridiron, but he couldn’t kick his obsession with basketball.

It'd be a shame if iron81 spontaneously forgot about every sports person ever born, wouldn't it?

Maybe we should've put a time limit on...

zugzwang selects:

Alexander The Great
Quote:
This long and painful pursuit of Darius – for in eleven days he marched 33 hundred furlongs – harassed his soldiers so that most of them were ready to give it up, chiefly for want of water. While they were in this distress, it happened that some Macedonians who had fetched water in skins upon their mules from a river they had found out came about noon to the place where Alexander was, and seeing him almost choked with thirst, presently filled a helmet and offered it him…. Then he took the helmet into his hands, and looking round about, when he saw all those who ere near him stretching their heads out and looking earnestly after the drink, he returned it again with thanks without tasting a drop of it.
“For,” said he, “if I alone should drink, the rest will be out of heart.” The soldiers no sooner took notice of his temperance and magnanimity upon this occasion, but they one and all cried out to him to lead them forward boldly, and began whipping on their horses. For whilst they had such a king they said they defied both weariness and thirst, and looked upon themselves to be little less than immortal.
Naturally, he went on to defeat Darius – head of the Persian army. THE Persian army. I definitely want ATG calling the shots behind center and leading my team to multiple superbowls. Talk about a dude who knows how to win – what DIDN’T he conquer!? Plus with Kazaam O’Neal, he only needs to chuck the ball a few yards – hardly any athletic talent required for that. Even I could put it in Kazaam’s hands; I have a hard time believing Alexander The Great couldn’t.

WTF I thought we limited it to having to play from January 1st 1960 or later?

AND FWIW, there would be a MUCH better ancient war leader as QB then ATG

On the one hand, the Alexander the Great pick is absurd. On the other hand, it's infinitely better than picking a rugby player, so I'm torn.
