Burrows contract really is a thing of beauty too

McD was a pretty dominant defensive defenseman ... a few years ago. But he's still pretty good and on a decent contract, so it's not a bad idea for a team to add him for a playoff run.

As a Rangers fan, I want them to move him now so they don't extend him into his 30s thinking he's going to be a #1 D for 7 more years.

hope vgk don't get caught up in making trades just for the sake of doing it and messing up chemistry.

As a Penguins fan, I’m not necessarily in love with this deal or Brassard as I’ve never been particularly impressed with him. Sheahan and Kessel have been thriving together on the third line lately and the team has been really good, so let’s throw all that away and let go of one of our better defensemen who was large in winning the last 2 cups for Derick Brassard? You guys seem to know a lot, explain why I’m totally stupid and I’ll be seeing Brassard get to raise Kessel’s hot dog chalice again this June.

Must be nice to be this spoiled.

Don't worry, it'll all make sense in June.

That’s not fair to call me spoiled. As a Senators fan you see a mangled squirrel’s corpse on the side of the road and think he’s spoiled too.

Lol this is clearly a great trade for the Pens all around

Because the Pens only had three Cs, Brassard is a good 2C and Cole is only a good bottom pairing D. He was 5th or 6th best on the Pens. There is the added bonus of trading Reaves (great guy, would love to see him feed Dubinsky or Wilson their teeth, but a marginal player). So, the pens are going to be like the 15/16 version of steamrolling everyone, not the 16/17 version of having your goalies steal a cup. Finally, Sheahan and Kessel are playing with Guentzal. Lots of guys would have chemistry with those two. Or You could keep that line together and give Brassard Sheary and ZAR and call it the best fourth line in the NHL. This is an excellent trade for the Pens.

Brassard is a solid 2C who will be your 3C

Pens have been trying to give Cole away all season

And Reaves is a terrible hockey player

Hope this helps

amazing why somebody would help out the pens and take reaves.

Also amazed by Boston so far. I still have no idea why they misued Vatrano so much, but getting a 3rd for him seems like an okay haul at this point, if they don't want to continue with him.

I am always amazed how they speak about opening up the asian market, but completely butcher the markets where they don't have to explain hockey and in general have people that are interested in the product. Literally no exposure at all. They could so so much more over here. might realize that people in europe general have money.

I lot of my friends go like once every two years to the us and go to a few games to check out different arenas, but those are only the die hard guys. The NHL could attract/groom way more of these overe here.

Instead they go half heartedly after the asian markets. Holding pre-season games there is a super half-ass way to do it.

Meh. I'm quite sceptical about NHL potential here. Not sure about Austria but round here the NFL has gotten a foothold because it's 16 games and mostly on in the evening CET. Plus douche bros find it fun to wear Dolphins hats. I don't see how a league with 80 games and two and a half months long playoffs can replicate that without hurting the domestic market by scheduling a ton of playoff matinees.

Hockey is mostly popular in Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland... All small countries. And Russia of course but they're poor. Germany is the only big euro country with even a slight interest in hockey and even here there's not much. I just don't see the upside.

You also really don't want McDonagh now then, trust me. He is definitely no Matt Hunwick.

There's a story floating around that Dorion went into the room to say something to the players, and they turned up the music to drown him out. Wow.

Also had never looked at William Karlsson's shooting percentage till now. That's absurd. He's got 33 goals and has scored on 1 in 4 shots. hahaha

Hunwick is awful, I want him playing less not more. That’s why I liked Cole because he usually assured than Hunwick played less or not at all. Are the Pens even in the running for McD?

And for the contest Rick Nash to Rick Nashville for 2 1sts and a 2nd and 2 prospects.
