So how was Vegas beating everyone?

I haven't seen any of their games.

so the Avs & Sens are playing a game in Sweden in a few minutes, and it's not even on national tv or anything here. acting like it's just a regular game in November. so wtf are they even doing this for ... the benefit of the ~12k ppl in the rink over there? jfc

Yup I just noticed this as well. How is this game not a national tv game. Seems like really poor planning by the NHL.

15 games into his four-year $16M deal Kris Russell is on the third pairing and playing less than Eric Gryba the past two games.
is that bad?

Good thing they traded away Eberle and bought out Pouliot to get that valuable cap space to sign that scrub.

Chiapet should be fired but really the damage is already done. Though I suppose he can do even more damage by getting terrible value for RNH next. Do the Islanders have anymore draft busts they need to get rid of??

Apparently people from all over Europe have travelled to this game, kind of a weird thing to do but at least it's a highlight for European fans. Were those NHL premier games back in the day televised nationally?

Putting it against the qualifier is lol though

not sure which ones you're referring to, but probably

usually any kind of special game/event (e.g. outdoor game, foreign game, allstar, awards show, draft thing, whatever) is national, in Canada anyway, which is what makes this so weird

i know they were on in this market, but anyone know if those 2 Canucks/Kings preseason games in China this year went national?

bad luck more than anything

guessing this was planned a long time ago, and then Sweden hosts a playoff at about the exact same time as one of their games in Sweden? lol

Ya very likely bad luck but still lol.

I meant the ones played in various euro cities around 2010 at the start of the season. Stockholm, Berlin, others. Bruins played the Coyotes in Prague twice in 2010.

It's more bad than him being released outright, but not as bad as him playing 2nd pair minutes.

What kinda value would one get for RNH, he’s not particularly good.

The crowd cheers the game like basketball with bodychecks.

Big blast from the blueline by Sbisa.

The team cheats the zone a lot.

I like the way Vegas plays.

They have pretty good speed on all lines. They are hard on the forecheck. They have some skill on the first line and three more pretty equal lines. It's like playing the same guys all night.

I'm not an x's & o's guy but just watching them, they've figured out how to generate goals consistently so they can stay in games. have no idea if it is due to proper line matchups, coaching, schemes or just luck but they keep scoring them.

biggest issue so far has been finishing games...their 3rd periods have been their worst period. won't be shocked if 5-2 turns into 5-4 late and it's another sweat

The team with 1 2nd line and 3 3rd lines. And 3 2nd pairings.

Gerard Gallant is solid...how unbelievably awful has Florida been since they dumped him? And not like he was the only reason they did well, but, yeah dumpster fire since he left.

re: Vegas

have seen it suggested from PEOPLE WHO WATCH THE GAMES that they've been at playoff type effort levels all season, unlike everyone else. guys with a chip on their shoulder having being dumped by their former teams really givin'er. also for their home games, The Hangover effect. imagine that'll continue to be a thing early in seasons when players/teams might trade a point or two for a fun night out.

yes

but seriously, probably Lucic? 5 more years after this one is pretty damn bad, and probably makes him less movable than Russell
(even though there might still be enough donks around to make both movable)

re: Avs/Sens in Sweden

so i figured out what happened to the 1st game, TSN had the rights regionally somehow, so Sportsnet couldn't show it nationally. don't really get how that happened, but ok.

anyway, then with today's game the league runs Oilers/Rangers opposite it over here for some reason, 'cause that's totally necessary and makes perfect sense to compete with your own event thing. wtf

Shipping out a 2nd line to LV didn't help. (Reilly Smith and Marchessault)
