Who, me?

Engelland has a previous 3-gamer on his CV. Thus, repeat offender.

Seems about right, yes what Quincey did was dangerous but the way Getzlaf goes in looks a lot worse than the act itself. Engelland is targeting the head which is exactly what the NHL is trying to police. Think Naslund/Moore, Cooke/Booth, Weight/Sutter.

What do you think of other hits that target the head and suspensions that have been given out?

Where is Schenn turning when he spots Wilson from the corner of his eye?

Giving up his back worse than a bad MMA fighter.

Awful hit. I could see Wheel of Shanny hitting three games.

I can't wait for the World Jrs. to start. Eagerly anticipating how good Mantha is. He was absolutely tearing up the Q earlier this year and hasn't really let up all season (He currently has a 19 point lead over second) and his teammates are #2 and #3 in the league in scoring.

Steen deal seems pretty good for the Blues, no? I'm thinking someone out there this offseason surely would have given him something like 4/24m.

Its a good deal for the Blues but it's more than what he's worth within their salary structure.

Backes makes 4.5 and Oshie makes ~4.3. Ideally Steen gets paid about ~4.5 as well but obviously he was going to get huge $ from another team so they settled at a middle ground.

There is no way Steen is worth ~1M more than Backes or <1M less than Petro but that's the reality of a supply/demand market.

Steen isn't even as valuable as J-Bo but, again, supply/demand

Steen's deal looks completely fair, and if the Blues were in the habit of over-paying players based on a single career year they were having, they wouldn't be so incredibly deep. All that being said, he could easily get 6.5 on the open market, probably more now with the new announced cap.

He would've been offered 6/36 for sure. But he's not 'giving up money' - the salary cap is going up, and if he stays healthy, he will get a better deal in 3 years.

He struggles with his skating but he was pretty clearly tripped up on that second goal. First one wasn't good lol

Tonight's another matchup between the Penguins and the Rangers on Wednesday Rivalry Night on NBC Sports. They didn't show the half-hour special about the two teams' rivalry, which I was a little upset about, because it's been a while since I saw the first one. For example, I can't quite remember what the all-time playoff series matchup looks like results-wise; does anyone remember what the record is between these two?

On a slow NHL night, how about some trivia?

Name the 5 active NHL players who have played 1000 or more games for one franchise only.

For the hardcore, how many of the 22 retired players that played at least 1000 games for one franchise only can be named.

(I'm pretty sure there are only 27 players who currently have done it. Got curious about it looking at Alfredsson and Iginla.)
