NHL Regular Season 2013-2014 NHL Regular Season 2013-2014

yeah that was a poor play by Olympic hopeful Marc Methot to back off all the way to the goal line and let Koivu just walk down through the slot

perhaps not the best backcheck by Bobby Ryan and company either

Heard some convincing talk about how losing Alfie is having a much bigger impact on the Sens (on and off the ice) than expected. If so, lol Melnyk. You'll lose way more money this way. Bet he wishes he could go back and just give him the extra 1M. Gonna lose that in ticket sales by Xmas or sooner.

Ouch, the Ducks just scored on their own goddammed selves in OT
11-21-2013 , 01:37 AM
Been sick all day but LOL DUCKS just made me feel a bit better today Devils finally win an OT game...about time.

What a save by Brodeur right before the Devils win, as well. That was a beauty.

funny how I don't hear a lot of clucking about the Devils possibly having to give up their 1st round pick this year

I just dont see how Stefan Matteau was so exceptional it was worth taking on this negative freeroll (neutral or worse).

With regards to Karlsson, it seems to me what made him standout was his skating ability and his passing ability. He could stay on the ice for very long shifts seemingly just gliding effortlessly past guys that were trying much harder to skate fast.

I haven't watched him much this year, bot last year it felt like they brought him back to soon from injury. He didnt have anywhere near the same mobility. He went from elite skater to below average, especially skating backwards where he looked like a pylon. I dont know if that's still the case this year.

i thought it was mentioned earlier when the Devils were really in the dumps, but maybe not

in any case, i think it's still pretty dumb they didn't give up that Matteau pick

and there's no possibility about it, they've lost their 2014 1st round pick

congrats on winning a few games
(still a decent chance that could be a top-10 pick btw)

Wasn't that the last owner's fault? Institutional error.
11-21-2013 , 03:18 AM
the Kovalchuk contract or the decision not to give up the 2012 1st rounder?

thought the latter was Lou, but i could be wrong

I clucked about it a ton before the year, and then mostly decided to make an effort to be a bit less of an ahole in here. Your post prompted me to check the standings, man what a log jam between 8 and 14. The league must love that ****. Gonna mean another year of almost no sellers at the deadline I guess. That loser point improved the league in some ways, and hurt it in a lot of others.

How has Jagr looked this year? I mean I know he's producing, kind of curious how. In the playoffs he just looked so done, he couldn't really finish a shift that was more than 40 seconds. Not sure if that was because the playoff tempo, or something else.

Jagr was hurt at the end, I thought that was common-ish knowledge. I know he got buried by the Boston writers on his way out of town, as just about every Bruin does, but he's been very good. He's not as good as his numbers - he's got 2 empty net goals, and is running hot besides that - but he's exceptional at controlling the puck in the offensive zone.

As for the pick, it doesn't matter that they picked Stefan Matteau, the question was is having a guy who should be NHL ready next year worth the tradeoff in pick standings? If the Devils end up giving up draft pick 20 or lower, I'll say yes. If it's 10-20, no, they lost. If it's higher, they lost much more. Still, the Devils don't figure to be picking in the top 10; they're a better team than that. And it's not a negative freeroll, though it has the appearance of that.

What was his injury? Find it weird, he'd stay on the ice for hours after games or practice skating around with weight/flack jacket, and he was seriously hurt? Weird way to nurse an injury.

I guess worse still is having him play with that injury, when a few other healthy Bruins could have stepped in.

I thought Jagr played fine for the Bruins last playoffs . He'd do almost everything he always could do but just couldn't finish. I'd imagine the same thing happening IF they make the playoffs this year. I thought that was common-ish knowledge.

Can't wait for Bruins/Blues tonight, our first glimpse at this year's SCF.
11-21-2013 , 06:31 PM
the SC will clearly be decided by the Blackhawks-Blues Norris Division Final this season
11-21-2013 , 06:50 PM
Blues gna have to hope the Hawks knock out the Kangz, if they want to make the final
11-21-2013 , 06:51 PM
Holly Horton is on CBC now. Seems so weird.
