Why do you want the Kangz? As a Wangz fan that is all about "LOL Chokes", you should obv rather play SJ than Nash/Ana right?

Or Brett Hull, Adam Deadmarsh, Paul Stastny etc who just switch so they can make the team.

Would lol once again if Vancouver loses, especially if they go like last game and give up in the 2nd period.

@Tbob

just general thoughts without re evaluating all the stats are that it would be a really close series. Wings have more veteran leadership and a better d core, sharks are deeper at the forward postion and have better goaltending tandem and they are also more physical and have more over all toughness (there average size and weight was one of the highest in the league iirc). Both powerplays are pretty good but the key of the series would be for the sharks to stay out of the box because their weakness is going to be there penalty kill with wasnt to great this season, 21st iirc. that type of penalty kill is going to get smashed against a top powerplay with two great units. if the sharks keep the play to five on five it will be there best gameplan because theve been a better territorial team this season and have a better goalie. the other key will be the sharks using there physical play and toughness to cut down the space on the ice to operate in addition to slowing down the detroits skill guys like datsyuk and zetterburg. if they can get these guys scared and out of rhythm (or injured) itll really go a long way. itll be a close series no matter who wins.

Vigneault said he won’t go out of his way to keep the Sedins away from Bolland tonight.

“To tell you the truth, I didn’t mind the matchups that were in Chicago,” the coach said. “We got off track for a couple of shifts and they took advantage, but that game’s behind us.”
Should be a fun game!

I read 72o's rant about not liking the Raymond in center position but I (obviously) don't mind it that much. Yeah, Raymond doesn't have center vision but it's not as if that line with Torres and Hansen are going to be a tic-tac-toe pass line anyways. I'd be happy with them playing a defensive game and perhaps having a couple chances off the quick rush.

Losing Seabrook is 22+ minutes somewhere else too.

Tough series, but I'd rather them than the Ducks fwiw (and yes, I know that they can not play the ducks).

do you see detroit taking care of their problems taking bad penalties during this break? what do you think other than that will be their biggest issue to work on preparing for a team like san jose if they should play? I agree that both in PP and PK aspects detroit still looks better but obv the way to beat detroit has always been to get them off rhythm. How effective do you think zetz will be out of the box if he ends up playing? do you see him taking on a full role right away or would you for lack of a better term "work him in" if you were babcock against a physical team like san jose? do you see babcock doing a lot of work mixing up lines like they used to in previous years?

I guess the best way to play san jose is get them mad enough to take bad penalties since there one of the best 5 on 5 teams in the nhl. If i were babcock i wouldnt give zetterberg a ridiculous amount of minutes right away because they dont "need to" at least right now. I woul ease him in because detroit is coming off a sweep and i wouldnt want to ruin that chemistry yet, if san jose steals the first two games or something then your in a more desperate situation and you throw him him and hope for the best. Sort of like the last point i wouldnt start mixing up lines until you have to, especially at home when you have the matchups you like it would be smart to keep guys like lindstrom against the top line and not mess with that.

I dunno, a lot depends on whether Zetts says he's ready or not. If he's like "Coachie! I'm ready, put me in", I doubt Babcock is going to wait 'till they're down 2-0 before he does that.

yeah.. I think they are def gonna try to work him in as quickly as possible if he is ready. He is Zetts afterall. Babcock has always been good about matching lines, and doing so against SJ has been no exception. He seems to juggle his lines more against SJ than against other teams, but I can not confirm this as I have not watched enough Wangz games vs teams not named the Sharks. The wangz obv can not out play them physically and will have to rely on their typically strong dzone and neutral ice coverage/management with good quick puck movement. If they take bad penalties, they're gonna be in bad shape imo. On offense, they just need to do what they do... cycle the puck well and get the big bodies in front of the net. Oh and let Pavel soul crush people.

Pesonally, I think the Sharks match up against them very well as they are more physical, and faster. If they can keep off of the PK, they would be fine. The biggest factor for Det is Jimmmmaaaaaay obv.

Calling it. In the Canucks 40th home playoff game tonight, in the franchise's 40th season, Maxim Lapierre (#40) will get the winner.
