As far as the East goes, Washington, Florida, and Ottawa were the three worst teams to make it. The Rangers got to face two of them, and barely survived I might add. In their defense, New Jersey is a very good team and LA, despite being an 8 seed, would be a very strong opponent in any SCF year. But getting a relative cakewalk to the conference finals is nothing to sneeze at.

LMAO at your self-contradiction.

LA is an 8 seed but a very strong opponent, but Washington and Ottawas were the "....worst teams to make it".

Figure out what those predictors are and you'll actually see why LA has been a strong opponent and why far from being the worst teams to make it were very strong contenders as well.

Where did I say all 8 seeds were bad? Because only then would I have contradicted myself.

Who would have been an easier opponent to face than Washington or Ottawa in the East with the exception of Florida? Do tell.

Also, by predictors do you mean advanced statistics? I'm seriously confused otherwise.

For the Rangers? Washington and Ottawa were the worst teams for them to face with the possible exception of Pittsburgh.

Not even advanced statistics. There are two pretty simple statistics that have been very successful in analyzing playoff matchups since expansion.

You have offered 0 evidence. Not even in the post that you made afterwards. Let me guess: it involves something about the number of letters in the team's name, or the fact that both teams play in their respective country's capital city, or maybe jersey colors? I'm stumped.

I don't care about H2H matchups either, the Rangers played 4 games in the regular season against both teams. I mean, serious lols at this being the worst matchup - yeah, I don't think all teams are created equal, and Ottawa was probably better than Washington all things considered, but you're insane if you would've rather had the Rangers face the Bruins, Flyers, or Pittsburgh in the 1st round.
