I don't think there's much difference in NHL but in other leagues match penalty is often followed up by an automatic one game ban (+ more if the report of the incident so deems worthy). Automatic game misconduct also causes a report also (not every time) but it isn't followed up by an automatic ban. NHL uses its own rulebook (as does most hockey nations/leagues with minor tweaks so the effect of match penalty might be different) so it might go automatically to Shanahan, follow up with the an automatic one match ban or something, I'm way too lazy to look.

Anyways, match penalty is the worst and is typically reserved for some really stupid ****.

u misunderstand i guess.. im simply here to troll. i honestly don't care that much about hockey and i dont think i watched more than 3 regular season games.. i just know people hate on pitt and i need to keep up the practice for 2+2 steelers season..

i mean i'd of course be happy if the pens won because lots of co-workers and friends are into it. but if they lose i wont lose a minute of sleep
