If anyone is looking for a Fantasy Hockey league, there are 2 spots left in my league drafting this Sunday at 7:30 EST. Good group of guys, always fun.

Here is the league thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/15...r-6-a-1629498/

Canucks got some nice performances from cheap players last night, particularly UDFA D Troy Stecher, Eurostash W Anton Rodin, and PTO W Jack Skille (also a few of the AHL forwards showed nice jam). thank the gods we got $15m worth of sub-replacement level Derek Dorsett & Luca Pizza stuck on the roster for 2.5 more years...

also worrisome that Gudbranson, Granlund, and Etem all looked pretty ordinary when they're supposedly gonna help drag the team out of the gutter

“Hobbs is never eligible to be checked by Shaw on this play,” Player Safety said in the video explaining the suspension. “From the moment Shaw arrives at the face-off dot, he sees nothing but Hobbs’ numbers. Hobbs makes no sudden movement prior to contact that turns this hit from a legal hit into an illegal one. The onus is on Shaw to ensure he can deliver this hit in a legal fashion, minimize the force or avoid this hit completely. Instead, he hits forcefully through Hobbs from behind, driving him dangerously through the glass.”
so it's not a good hockey play huh?

Quote:
The Department of Player Safety points out that Shaw could have been angered from an earlier play where he got tangled up with Washington forward Jay Beagle. This led to him taking out the frustration on Hobbs.
calculated revenge play on the wrong guy huh? kind of a double whammy there

Quote:
Shaw is known as one of the NHL’s more physical players, but he often hasn’t found himself dealing with disciplinary issues because of on-ice performance. The Department of Player Safety has suspended Shaw once before, when the forward collided with Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith. Shaw received three games for this infraction.
plus last year in the playoffs when he went mental on the refs calling them ****ing ******s and such for making a correct call

Quote:
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has suspended Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw three preseason games [...] The Canadiens have five exhibition games remaining [...] Because Shaw is suspended during the preseason, he will not forfeit any of his salary.
boy i sure bet he learned his lesson!

can't stand the league protecting morans like Shaw, such garbage
future member of the old boys club here...

Three preseason games? Lololol that's hilarious. At least Hobbs wasn't hurt on the play.

Speaking of Hobbs, I really like his game. Him and Bowey should be some solid RD in the future. One guy who looked like he really belonged (already) was Caps most recent first round pick Lucas Johansen. I, admittedly, wasn't a huge fan of trading up to get a guy who seemed like the scouting report was "does most things pretty well"... Meh. But watching him play as an 18 year old he looked super good on both sides of the puck. Has a good shot, good first pass, and seems very positionally sound. Could be a real steal for the Caps.

None of the forwards have really jumped out at me so far, though Eller and Vrana looked really good together that first game. Now can the loljets take orpik, Bowey, Riley Barber, and a first and give us Trouba?

Ovechkin really hopes NHL not in olympics so he can retire to play and Russia will have a chance vs all the non nhl Canadians

Excellent goal by Lowry, I hope he is returning to form, normal sophomore slump.

Connor looks really good, haven't seen much of Laine yet.

Buff saved Hendricks life there. Hendricks looks like he pooped himself.

I had missed that Erhoff got a PTO with Boston. Has he got any game left? Surely all he can compete for is the #7?

We need some puck movers to play with guys like McQUAIDS and Kevan MillAIDS. Yeah Krug is there and Colin Miller will see some more time I hope, but I don't see why Ehrhoff couldn't beat out Liles or Joe Morrow. Anyway having depth in the "D-men who don't handle the puck like a grenade" department is worth having.

He posted really good (relative) possession numbers two years ago with Buffalo, and there's been plenty of rumours that he played through pain the last two seasons. Obviously at his age recovery doesn't seem that likely but he played well in Olympic qualification and the World Cup so idk.

I'm of course looking at the positive here and I'm biased bc Ehrhoff has been one of my favourite players for a long time. Upside is surely limited, but I think it's higher than 7th D. As far as camp invites go, I think it's one of the more purposeful ones. Certainly makes more sense than Peter Mueller.

Hey guys,

We've had an NHL keeper league going since '12-13 and need some new owners to take over for a few that have departed since last year. It's a 12-team league in which you must keep eight (8) players, and the rest of the roster is re-drafted. The buy-in is $100, and there are two (2) available teams. In addition, holmfries is looking for someone to co-own with him if you don't want the responsibility of doing everything yourself.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested, and I can get you further details. We will be drafting sometime this Sunday afternoon.

Thanks!

Vrana, Bowey sent back to Hershey as expected. I was really hoping Vrana would come to camp and dazzle, or at least show a glimpse of his skill but he really didn't virtually at any point. It was pretty disappointing but he should keep developing in Hershey. Bowey should be ready fairly soon.

Q. If you send a guy to Hershey at 9:30 am, when does he clear waivers.

A. "The claims process starts at noon Eastern Time and ends 24 hours later."

heard rumours of pacio going for Kucherov.

Wouldnt mind it actually. Not a hater nor a fan of Pacioretty and Kucherov is sick.

However, never rly liked it when the habs game him the C instead of giving it to Subban.

When are final cuts coming? I have my fantasy draft on Friday, and for some weird reason my league is set up so that a major factor in winning is grabbing high potential rookies with last few picks. But it only works if they make the team. When will we know which 19-20 year olds are actually staying with their teams?

How can you be on the fence when it comes to Pacioretty? He gets you like 35 goals a year for less than 5 mill a year. The grass isn't always greener.

November?

could see a lot of U20 players getting 1-9 game tryouts, so this could be tough
20 and up can obv just be sent to the AHL

good question though, there must be someone out there collating data on these kind of bubble prospects...

Good to see the Wangz get Bertuzzi back. Probably has a couple of good years left in him after all that misplaced guilt after the Moore incident.

Anyways here's a decent list of rookies and what their prospects are for the year.

As I said, not a hater or anything. Just expected a bit more all in all with him getting the C and such.

Anyways, w the team we currently have, feels like Kucherov would be a better fit
