A sale is a sale. It money in the owners, leagues and players pockets at the end of the day. Bottom line.
citation needed, and i'm just saying wait until the team starts losing some games and fans.

Too many other factors involved to make that a valid point. The Leafs have leverage in that situation as well. He's growing the game, in areas with the biggest room for growth. And maybe if your main bidder wasn't the Blackberry idiot you'd have another team up their by now. That guy needs to write a book on how NOT to go about courting a team to move. How's his business doing anyways. If he was allowed to buy that team he'd be flat broke right now and the owner of an NHL franchise. How healthy would that situation been for the league? That move already proven to be the right decision. In fact he just may have gotten the unwarmest welcome by the other 29 owners. Maybe worse that Trump was accepted by the NFL when he thought about wanting a team.

And what players are being squeezed? This is hysterical.

The league top revenue teams are already helping out the bottom teams with revenue sharing. Another offshoot of the Canadian assistance plan Bettman formed to save the Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver franchises when your dollar took a dump. Thank god it's back of late. But the Calgary owner already revealed he's one of the teams getting help from the leagues money makers.

I thought a lot of you were Canadian? Wtf.

League average per ticket in the NHL is in the $70 range. Knights tickets are at $88 per seat average. They are simply capitalizing on the hype. Smart move. And can always lower them should interest wane and still be in good shape. Lots of things this Foley and his people are doing right. Season tickets are locked into one price per game. Individual tickets will be marked up accordingly to who they play that night. Final pricing should be considerably higher than $88 average. 13k season tickets holders are Vegas locals. All the suites are sold out as well in this beautiful arena. And most lower bowl season ticket holders are signed up for 3-10 year packages.

And let me add this...Looking at some of the recent Stanley Cup Final ratings, Las Vegas rankings will surprise many of the naysayers. Starting with the 2010 Cup Final, Las Vegas’ share during the first two games was 8th in the country. Better than all but 5 cities that have teams, and two of those teams were playing in the final. Only three NHL cities that weren’t playing had a higher share than Vegas’ 3.3, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. In short, huge media markets like New York, Los Angeles and Boston had a smaller percentage of people watching than Las Vegas. Even in traditional hockey regions like Minnesota, Vegas outperformed them.

In 2012, the numbers are even better. For Game 5 between the Kings and Devils the Vegas market drew a 5.2 share good for 8th overall and third best among all non NHL cities. Remember, these last three examples came long before any NHL to Las Vegas news started being reported. Last years Cup Final continues this trend. In game six Las Vegas rated 10th overall with a 5.1 rating, again third among all non-NHL cities, and better than all but the most hardcore hockey towns. These numbers illustrate a consistent, interested, and active market where the NHL will thrive.

FWIW .....According to the July 23-29 edition of The Sunday, Knights have sold 14,000 season tickets. 90 % have local zip codes.

Great job Bettman, only you could have "grown" TV revenue to only $130 million less than Ligue 1, the 5th best and 5th most watched soccer league in Europe!
Come back to me when you have some facts to baĉk up what you're pecking out on that keyboard of yours.

He must be the longest-serving active commissioner in professional sports cause he's horrible at what he does eh?

On May 21, 2014, Bettman was named "Sports Executive of the Year" by the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily at the publications' annual Sports Business Awards event in New York. At the same ceremony, the NHL was named "Sports League of the Year," the second time in four years the NHL has been so honored. The 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic was named "Sports Event of the Year." Bettman said, "It’s almost an out-of-body experience. This time of year, I’m normally presenting a trophy and getting booed. To receive one and get applause is really quite novel."[4]
CBS Sports hockey writer Chris Peters said, "There's no question the game has grown throughout the United States with participation in the sport at an all-time high, in addition to rising revenues for the NHL itself. The game is also reaching its best exposure through its TV deal with NBC Sports. That could be one of Bettman's crowning achievements. The remarkable thing about the NHL is that it remains incredibly strong, if not stronger coming out of two lockouts in the last decade. Gary Bettman…may not be perfect…but (he) is a good leader for the NHL and probably deserves some recognition for it."[79]
In 2016, Bettman was inducted as a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.[5]
Bettman is currently the longest-serving active commissioner in professional sports.[80]

Well, why couldn't all those guys before him do anything? And he's absolutely despised by the brunt of Canadian media and fans. Hmmm. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you asked me. Good thing no one's asking eh?

Wonder if Alan Eagleson would have fared well?

The NHL and Gary Bettman sanctioned a sale to John Spano, who was a literal con man who is now in jail.

I enjoy the gotcha about Bettman being named "best commissioner in all sports last year" then your proof was that a single publication named him commissioner of the year...in 2014. That site has 460 (!) likes on facebook, a layout straight out of 1995 and basically zero traffic. Despite this, it uses a subscription model that costs $100/year. If they have 200 subscribers I'll eat a ****ing hat. More people read my tweets than go to that website.

The fact you've never even heard of those 2 publications let alone its parent company really tells me all I need to know here. Have a great day.

Yeah... about that reprieve the regular season will bring for you...

The annoying thing about the brave Canuck fans that still sport their logo around here these days is, that they start apologizing for the team before you can even get your dig in. Hate it when that happens.

Me on the other hand, LET'S GET IT ON. No more of this bushay league crap, Leafs are ready to own souls for real.

Ducksauce should make it and have it be heavy on his patented EARLY SEASON HOT TAKES

They've shown to really bring a 2p2 community together, which the NHL threads could use something of.

Kinda funny that Pit and Wsh odds are very close, and still most of the media stuff is "Wsh cant win (with Ovi)" and "All Pit do is win" etc.
