Nashville should go after Duchene. They have the D that Colorado wants and they could use another C. Plus Poile will fleece JoeS.

Agreed that it was a good trade for Buffalo but if you think Pominville is actually a second line winger (notice I didn't even say good) then you are crazy. The Wild aren't exactly stacked on offense and he barely was good enough anymore to make the third line. He played on the fourth or was scratched a fair amount this year. He is 34 and just not the player of old. Glad we got rid of him before he turned full Heatley on us.

Treliving buying out the final year of Murphy's EL contract so he can give Michael Stone $10.5M/3 is pretty amazing

Lol Geddy!

Ryan Murphy also appears to be significantly better than Connor Murphy, who the Hawks traded Hjalmarsson for
(i always get them confused too)

also Jagr (joking, i think) about how he's not getting any calls, but apparently the Panthers are offering less than the $5.5M he made last season

and they're trying to give Jason Demers away, like they did with Reilly Smith

Anyone wanna take a stab at the Pastrnak contract term and amount? I'm at a bit of a loss. I know what B's fans hope it is. But feel like his agent fails him if that's the number.

This is why the National Hockey League is decided over Free Agent Frenzy. Some GMs, good ones even, won't play in the Frenzy. They can't handle the swings.

hard to find this kind of entertainment elsewhere

Canucks are being linked to everyone under the sun (Nilsson, Gagner, Yak, Del Zotto, Hunwick, etc, etc, etc) which is pretty scary considering that Jim Benning is the GM, and there's no reason for anyone to consider signing here unless he gives up too much money and/or too much term

but as long as he keeps term under 3 years idrgaf

No idea what this means but I am not arguing that Ennis > Pominville. But lol at the idea that Pominville is a top 6 forward on any team but a dumpster fire like the canucks. I sat through the entire season this year and I can honestly say we had AHL guys I would have rather seen in the lineup.

Jets to sign Steve Mason? That leaves them with one too many goalie prospects, I suspect.

Jets buyout Mark Stuart. A few years ago, I wanted to see him and Hainsey in one pair, but they let Hainsey go out of spite.

Indeed. It's an interesting market dynamic. On the one hand, GMs are constantly at risk of being fired if their teams don't do well even in one season. So they're under intense pressure to add that mythical one magic missing piece to put them over the top, and with their jobs on the line it's so, so easy to talk yourself into overpaying. The rational thing to do is likely to let the other GMs make their big mistakes and then pick up the bargains available in the aftermath. BUT, if you do that and your team has a disappointing season you're fired.

just terrible

in the short term, the team immediately gets worse by replacing markov with alzner. in the long term, we have an awful contract on our books for the next 5 years

for bergevin, that's a win-win, baby!
