Hey Geddy,

I'll be home until May 6th if you want to come down and watch a game.

There is at least some small silver lining there.

At least Geddy has a solid playoff interest.

Diehard to diehard,
I hope the Flames get their act together. That the worst part is done. Sure they could suck for a few years, but they've been doing that already.

I would also venture that Malkin does not get a 'ginormous raise.' He might not ask for one at all, although I do think he will with the new CBA not allowing the majorly frontloaded contracts like Crosby got. I think he'll end up signing at around $10m per, which will be manageable. I'm far more concerned about what Letang might ask for, since he could pretty reasonably demand something upwards of $7-8m if he really wanted to.

I feel bad for Geddy here, honestly. Calgary traded the face of their franchise for two relatively average prospects who are still probably a couple years away from playing in the NHL if they do at all and a late first round pick. I really hope both guys turn into something for Calgary, along with the first round pick, but as far as rentals go I could not have asked for a better deal than the one Shero got for Iginla. In fact, I'm pretty sure the return Dallas got for Morrow was better than what the Flames recieved, which is absolutely inexcusable if you're Feaster. I really just don't get it, unless he sees something in Asogstini and Hanowski that other people aren't.
In fairness Penguins fans probably don't pay attention to a prospect unless he was drafted 1st or 2nd overall. Agostino was someone on Devils' fans radars when he was draft eligible as he went to an elite prep school in Jersey and looked like a good late-round selection - he's putting up decent numbers at Yale. It's hard to know what you're getting with players who play at places like Yale. I have a bad feeling that Feaster did the old 'well, we've got Baertschi and Gaudreau, these are skill players, I don't need skill players, I need grinders!' - but who knows. Either way it's a pretty poor return but NHLNut cited another classic bad trade, the Gretzky to St. Louis deal, where none of the players who went to the Kings were any good.

If you're looking to Ivy League kids who only play on weekends to find your pro grinders, you're doing it severely ****ing wrong.

@commerce:
scuttlebut in cowtown is that the bruins deal was signed, sealed and delivered when iggy did a reversal and said boston was off the radar.

feaster was forced into plan b, whcih included two players no one ever heard of.

general concensus is the flames got burned large, but not much they could do.

nect on the list is jay b to the red wings

lol feaster for not getting the ntc waiver before he negotiated the deals.

My only consolation prize of the season, watching the Penguins choke.

#Flyers recall Gustafsson while #Penguins acquire Iginla. Yeah, sounds like perfect way to describe season.

At least Gus is back... Time for the run!

I can name two former Ivy League grinders w/ a capital G off the top of my head (Darroll Powe, Jeff Halpern). Steve and Dominic Moore are in that conversation too. Harry Zolnierczyk. etc.

It's going to be really funny when something extremely likely happens? Okey doke.

It'll be a disappointment to not win, but I can't imagine that any team in this league is a favorite to advance past the conference finals, or perhaps even the second round. Certainly turns the heat on Bylsma if we manage another early exit though.
03-28-2013 , 11:32 AM
So, Iginla gave them a list of 4 teams but it was really a 1-team list all along and the Hawks, Kangz and Bruins were essentially used to drive up the price (lol) of the Penguins offer?

How will Flames fans remember their beloved Jarome when Khokhlachev pans out into a solid 2nd line forward and the NCAA guys amount to absolutely nothing?

Also just noticed the poster bracket tourney starting up again. I haven't been active enough to warrant any votes, and JP is an A+ poster. My only vote goes to him.

13 straight wins, and look at the east.

round 1:

Should be something like Pens-Rangers, Pens-Islanders, Pens-Devils, etc...

That's done in 5-6.

Round 2:

will be something in the Toronto, Boston, Montreal range. If it's Boston or Toronto that's done in 6. Montreal maybe 7.

Round 3: Probably one of Montreal, Boston. See above.

Honestly it's the easiest path to the finals in some time. Vs anyone out of the west now, you're better than a flip.

I maintain that it would be really lol bad to not make the finals, and decently bad to not win.

wonder if iginla changed his mind after seeing bergeron whiff that shootout
