man such a great trade, heatley basically plays second line minutes for the sharks with good linemates and havlat is on the first line with minny i believe (but does play with koivu i believe whos a good playmaker) . despite this, they put up pretty much the same production with almost the same fenwick.

and we save all this money to move an unlikable guy on a terrible contract. really?

does minnesota's gm really like wilson or something, its like christmas all over again. I hated heatley like ive mentioned many times, glad to see him gone.

A little bit of this, but I'd also think Wilson would like to keep Brent Burns around for a while - he's in a contract year this season.

My first thought but they don't really have many assets do they? and there aren't really any good free agents left. Who knows..

Good points about freeing up money for Couture and Burns next year.

He does. Maybe he was pissed about being on the second line for a lot of last year. Or maybe it's just cause he seems to want to be traded every few years. Whatever the reason, he was probably the worst contract on the roster going into this year.

Some on twitters are saying that the NTC was voided after he waived it to go to SJ. Not sure if that's accurate though.

NTC's are wiped out of contracts after a trade, aren't they?

That would be hilarious.

DW: "Sorry Pavelski, you're centering the 3rd line again this year."

Dreger clearing up the NTC speculation:

Heatley has a modified no-trade. Had to submit a list of 10 teams he wouldn't go to before July 1. obviously Minny wasn't on that list.

ya, at the absolute worst its a lateral move skill wise and we shaed a bad contract/gain cap room. wilson made a good point as well when he said that havlat plays both wings proficiently, so it gives the team more flexibility.
