Oh, brag time: I played some pickup ball hockey today w/ some guys who I'm playing in a summer league with. Highlights:

- Get a pass on the right side of the slot from behind the net, take two steps to my left into the slot (I'm a left-handed shot), wrist it into the top left corner for a goal
- I chase down the ball into the corner and through some awkward combination of kicking and flailing my stick get it over to my teammate, who puts it by the goalie. Assist!
- As the other team breaks out of their defensive zone I manage to stop a pass on my stick just to the left of the high slot; I quickly settle it, look up, and rip it five-hole for goal #2
- Highlight reel goal: lots of traffic around the net, ball comes to me in the slot off a rebound w/ a defenseman right next to me, I tie up his stick w/ mine and kick the ball behind me so I can use my body as a shield, free my stick and turn around and blindly shoot it, and somehow it goes in between the goalie's foot and the left post.

HAT TRICK BITCHEZZZZZ (75% shooting percentage: sustainable)

I'm pretty terrible so this is probably going to be the only hockey brag I have all year.

gg voice

loudest I've ever heard the UC

Hossa probably should've gotten a game misconduct for that, and I for one won't be complaining if he's suspended, it was a dirty hit

though I would laugh if he wasn't suspended and then had a hatty or something like that in Nashville to close out the series

It's still remarkable to me how ****ing terrible the Hawks have been in exiting their own zone. It's as if nobody has ever played against a strong forecheck before, just a ****ing adventure

This is not surprising to me. I've seen over half the current roster play in Norfolk, and they had to exact same issue. And if Byfuglein had the puck, you might as well forget about it. All he was known for was not skating for pucks, turning pucks over, and his slap shots hitting the Wendy's sign behind the net.

How many players have banged this Versus chick?
04-24-2010 , 07:36 PM
Wow, what a save!
04-24-2010 , 07:38 PM
O ****, that pucks looks in.

Um, it should be surprising to you because one of the biggest reasons they were so successful this year was their ability to beat the forecheck, make quick transition passes, and rush up the ice. It's better than it was in Games 1-3, but it's still much worse than it was in the regular season.

Though you are 100% correct about Buff, though he is playing out of position, so I guess he has to be cut a little bit of slack.

Most of the blame should probably be on the wingers, who are drifting too far towards Nash's blue line. I imagine some of this is to do with trying to sneak towards the neutral zone to beat Nashville's defenseman to the rush
04-24-2010 , 07:39 PM
I can't call that a goal.
04-24-2010 , 07:39 PM
Wow that last look that was blown up by Versus was really close.
