that was crazy. Miller was awesome tonight, stopping 37 of 39 SOGs. Ovechkin had some decent shots on net but looked like he was forcing it, instead of distributing. He was floating a lot at times, in all not a very good game for him. The Bradley-Steckel-Gordon line was the best all night. Nonstop forecheck, extremely tenacious, they were playing like their jobs were on the line (and that may turn out to be the case). Chimera looked explosive too, he really earned that first goal. Hell of a game from the grinders. It's play like that from your bottom line that wins games in the playoffs. Good win.

Assuming the team goes into the playoffs with the same steam they've had over the past 15-20 games, this is probably the best feeling I've had going into the playoffs in a long time. I thought we'd beat the Caps in '08, but the rest of the run was just a freeroll, I didn't know what to expect against MTL/PIT. Last year I thought we'd lose, and we did, though I didn't expect it to be because of dominated performances that were shut down by MAF. We'll see what happens, but I really would have liked a veteran goalie to backup Leighton and/or another D-man. So far, Holmgren hasn't been much of a deadline guy, which I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Growing up, Bobby Clarke would usually always do something, but then again that was the old NHL without a cap and stuff.

It is crazy talk, but it's true, which like I said is why it didn't happen. They may have come down today, but they definitely wanted more than Parent. Whether or not it was a forward or a draft pick that the Flyers didn't have, I don't know.

I'm not ready to jump yet, Leighton has been great so far this year. But not having a guy to back him up with more playoff credentials might be our Achilles' heal. To be fair, the team played God awful tonight.

Reading the Olympic hockey thread is a great contrast to what this thread could be. We've got class imo. I think it helps that there's only like 20 hockey regs so it's not as anonymous.
