Manning could have been tough if he wanted to, imo.

For me he's fifth, same order as Epi.

If you want to have Marino/Montana/Manning ahead of him, fine. I'll never argue that. I'll admit that the top tier QBs are basically interchangable. But Elway, Favre, Steve Young and Brady? Just...no.

Personally I think that Jerry Rice is the clear goat however I that Jim Brown will get the #1 spot. I also think Payton will be top 5 even though I think he is only top 10. I agree with the guy who says LT wont get top 5 and slip to top 10 just because of the rape charge

Nfl network list:

5. Some huge joke like Elway or Farve
4. Payton
3. Montana
2. Jerry Rice
1. Jim Brown

My personal list:

5. White (Even though I would legit be shocked if he was top 5 on this list)
4. Montana
3. LT
2. Jim Brown
1. Jerry Rice

Did my top 10 earlier but it definitely is bias to recent players.

Jim Brown
LT
Unitas
Deacon Jones
Peyton
Marino
Munoz
Reggie White
Montana
Rice

i mean ur just overrating unitas, i can at least see where ur pimping of jim brown is justified since he actually flat out dominated his era but unitas didn't. and for the 10th time this was with a much smaller player pool. if you somehow magically transported unitas to todays game while giving him the same training all the other guys have, i'd be shocked if he was better than those 8 qbs i listed.

We'll just go with that we disagree here. I see no argument that can be made here that will even remotely convince the other to even consider the other side. I respect your opinion on this matter so its cool.

Edit: I apologize for being confrontational. That was uncalled for.

lol @ bolded, i agree though that rice is in the top five. i would put him at number 1 but quarterbacks are usually put there.

any/a+ is era adjusted and peyton still craps all over him.

just so you know, they actually played football prior to 1990. And back then, the rules weren't as advantageous for QBs as they are now.

Is Brown really worth top 2? It seems weird not to have a QB in the top 2. Brown also played with a really really good offensive line and left before anyone could see him in weak years (as we got to see from other running backs such as Emmitt Smith). I think as long as Brown is in the top 5 it would be okay. Jerry Rice has to be in the top 2 though. As Pro Football Reference showed, if we split Jerry Rice into even years Rice and odd years Rice, both of them would be locks in the Hall of Fame.

his era adjusted stats really aren't that amazing. career 112 rate+ is v good, but not goat. for example, peyton manning (imo the GOAT qb) is 119 rate+. pretty big difference, especially in a more competitive era etc.

Unitas is top 10, but not top 5. Montana and Peyton are my top 2.

Uh, Favre is without a doubt ahead of him. Career longevity + a bunch of great seasons + has won (rang).

Elway has the "lore" behind him that matches Unitas, and also some rushing. But probably the most overrated QB.

Brady has rangz, better stats, still producing bulk stats...

Steve Young could have been the greatest, but obviously smaller window.

Just so you know, "the rules weren't as advantageous for QBs as they are now" means nothing since i'm comparing him to other players of his era who had to deal with the same rules Unitas did. Again the most he lead any statistical catagory was 4 times in his 17 year career.

However what actually matters is that he did this against a much much smaller player pool. prob was like literally 10x less of the size of today due to growth in football/growth in population. I shouldn't have to explain what this means.
