according to a certain section of NFL SE, in-game decision making is vitally important and coaches suck at it.

unleashing Cam + Riverboat Ron + CAR front 7 = 2. CAR ?

actually I can see putting them as high as 3 (SEA/NO), but the lowest Denver can be rated is 4th. I'm assuming someone managed to rank 2 of NE/KC/SF ahead of them.

NE/SF. No way KC is close to DEN.

Ranking den below a team that they are 4.5 point road favorites vs this week would be a pretty elite troll.

I genuinely like this Cardinals team — I don't even care that the table is set for one of those fork-in-the-road "Too many people believe in a Carson Palmer team right now, we're right at the point where everyone should be running for their lives" moments that has burned us all over and over again these last few years. Billy Zima is plowing ahead with the Cards and their sneaky-good defense
lollllll

Good point, but my biggest problem with the 49ers is that they run the ball too much. They average 6.9 yards per pass attempt while averaging 4.3 yards per rush attempt and yet they throw the ball on only 44% of their plays. I don't think the 49ers would take advantage of a bad pass D like the Arians led Cardinals would.

Passing game is still more efficient even with that receiving core.

No one way I make this bet now with the possibility of them throwing more often when Crabtree returns. Although I can't imagine I ever would make a bet on 2p2 regardless.

And if Arizona loses to Philly it really shouldn't surprise anyone. Not much separates these two teams and Arizona is playing an early game on the east coast.

Definitely expecting AZ to lose @PHI.

3 or 4 Palmer turnovers. Only way we win is if we run early and often and well. Don't see that happening.

are you suggesting passing is more efficient than running?

meh, if people are allowed to believe that NE will play D & stop making regular mistakes on O when it matters, then the notion that Reid will open it up with Charles, McCluster, Bowe and Avery is in play too

If Godgers does not win MVP just stop giving out the award.

Fat Mike is such a god damn idiot, without ARod he would be coaching special teams in the MAC.

I don't know when that site became the ultimate arbitrator of truth. it's a nice reflection of the betting market which itself is a solid (mb the best) power ranking. however, it's largely that way b/c of the juice - in order to beat the betting market you need to beat it enough to also beat the juice which nobody can really do so it's the standard. however if you lower the hurdle to "beats the market 50.01% of the time", then I think a lot of systems could do that (and plenty record histories of beating the market something like 51% of the time, which will both bankrupt you in the long run but also says something useful about the actual prediction)

so when

- DVOA now has SEA in front of DEN
- ANFLS now has SEA in front of DEN
- SRS now has SEA in front of DEN (though this one is close)
- Pythag has SEA in front of DEN

I think it's reasonable to argue that even though the betting market has DEN in front of SEA, that is wrong.

either way, I'm not a hater for thinking DEN > SEA. either way it's close for 1/2 and either way it doesn't really matter

Like I said I don't really have a problem with ppl who wanna argue sea > den, but no one has sea outside the top 2 while three ppl put Denver 3rd and one person put them 6th (!!), which is clearly just haters hating.

And I'm not meaning to imply the market or Inpredictable is perfect but I do think it's the best metric we've got. None of those other metrics are forced to put their money where their mouth is every game of every week.

I have Denver at #3 because their coaching is awful compared to Seattle and New Orleans. All three are are decent step above CAR/SF/NE.

I think the betting market is the best we have, but it's on a slim margin better than other some other systems. it's not like the market picks winners at 80% and DVOA gets 60%. so when you have 3 or 4 other systems that all say the same thing, I'm inclined to think they are on to something.

Peyton Manning will almost certainly win. I suppose Drew Brees has an outside shot... mayyybe Brady if he lights it up the rest of the year.

Didn't we have this discussion about how you should never bring up the "market" in these types of debates or whatever because although that is likely the correct answer it makes said discussion really, really pointless? Like, weeks ago. The entire point is what do you think. If you check the market, dvoa, or any metric, before ranking teams YOU are doing it wrong.
