it doesnt make any sense on the surface and was actually good value so by those metrics it is very surprising. they did go 15-1 with ted ginn as a #1 and the offense has only gotten worse the more benjamin plays. panthers front office has been just clicking buttons for a decade and the smart move would have been to trade for a wr to replace him given theyve failed to draft a useful one since steve smith in 2001. i mean they are 5-3 with a great defense in an nfc without aaron rodgers or really any scary teams, its as good a time as any to roll the dice and take your chances in the playoffs.

And that's only guaranteed against injury. they can release him before next season if they want.

I really hope they didn't trade a 3rd & 7th for half a season of KB with the intent to not pay him $8.5m & not be eligible for a compensatory pick for losing him because they'd be cutting him (I think that's right).

lol some Panthers' players are not happy. Their forum board is melting down, too.

It's being reported the AJ McCarron trade was for 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2018.

So they would've basically traded Carson Wentz and DeShaun Watson for AJ McCarron and one pick.

Still think a 3rd is an excellent trade for the Bills. I don't even count the 7th because that's like Beane telling the Panthers he'll pay for shipping.

Why would the browns trade for a QB now?? That makes absolutely no sense. Give Kizer a shot at the whole season.

I can see that trading for a QB isn't a great idea for the Browns right now, but surely not because they should give more starts to lolKizer.

wait, wut?

Cutting Suh pre 2018 will only save $4m - his cap hit is $26m and dead cap is $22m.

2019 is the first year they can think about cutting him and even then they have to eat $13m, albeit they'd save $15m

his contract is incredible

Might be worth it anyway. They'd avoid paying his $17m base salary.

Kizer is only 21. I think he's the youngest QB in the league, period, and surely the youngest to start games this year. I think it's too early to write off a player so young at a position where players don't peak for nearly another decade. Which isn't to say if they have the chance to draft a franchise QB prospect, they should pass. Just that I don't think it's smart to invest in A.J. McCarron or Cody Kessler over Kizer.

Was confused when I couldn't find the recent convo on draft value & RBs. It's kind of a derail in the Browns thread & a reasonable topic for here so...

Right now Garrett and Lattimore look like studs.
Thomas, Fournette, and Adams have been good-great(?). But we're talking winless 49ers passing on QB cuz they getting Kirk next offseason - that works. What's the Jags plan?? Jets plan??

Even tho Fournette has been great I think that pick was terrible (see Cook, Hunt, Kamara, Packers undrafted rook) that cost 5-100x less salary & draft capital.

The Rookie WRs haven't done much yet, obv MW been injured. I liked Davis but idk and John Ross pick looks pretty terrible.

McCaffrey - see Fournette reasoning then take away the great RB part.

Browns suck but they're doing something right. Keep trading down, turn one 1st rounder into two, into three, etc. Keep letting them breed. Maybe they do suck at picking players but the draft capital acquisition is clearly smart.
I was looking at something else, & found out that the Saints actually traded a 2018 2nd & 2017 7th to the 49ers for Kamara pick, so they used more draft capital than you might expect on a 3rd round pick, although he's been obviously quite good & it seems to be working out.

Also, all 3 top 10 WRs have been hurt. Hard to have much of a new opinion on any of them.

Also, I find THIS post amusing still. 4.5 a really good over under. Kizer got benched halfway through his 5th start. Also, I guess I should have bet the Browns under.

Jeremy Lane failed his physical so now Seattle have to give up a 3rd as well. Great result for Texans
