FYP...

Other than David Harris, you can arguably say with some conviction that Mike Nugent had the 2nd best career from this list of players...that's pretty ****ing sad. Maybe Rivers blows his knee and Geno revives his career but other than that...LOL at this list...and LOL me for thinking some of them could have been good

That had to be 1 of the more interesting contract extensions to workout given he was vastly underpaid but Packers had him under contract for 2 years+franchise tags, effectively having him under contract until his age 39 season.

Good call Bill. Seems pretty dumb on their part. I usually like the idea of taking care of your too players but because of his age he kind of has to deal with it.

When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made it to the Hall of Fame last year, the celebration included a surprisingly self-aware smattering of references to the nutty things he has said over the years.

The best? In 2012, Jones explained at training camp that “I’ve been here when it was gloryhole days, and I’ve been here when it wasn’t. And so having said that, I want me some gloryhole.”

Leibovich emerged from his Walker Blue Persuasion long enough to notice that Jones had mentioned “spending the afternoon masturbating over selling shoes.” Leibovich sought clarification.

“I’ve sold shoes, and I’ve masturbated in my shoes,” Jones said.

I think it's a good day for the Packers. Just would love to see how the deal came to fruition.

Browns paid $18mill(?) for Osweiler and a high 2nd. Jets just got a low 3rd for 500k (Teddy's guarantee). Teddy's contract is heavily tied to starting incentives - so he is a great cheap backup contract for the Saints this year.

Saints probably don't plan on being players next year in FA anyways so they are somewhat likely to recoup a similar pick as a compensatory pick -if/when Teddy is a FA again next season? Saints don't have their future 1st and really couldn't afford to suck/tank should Brees go down. This would allow them to stay competitive.

Seems pretty good for both parties. Packers lose a little as the Saints 1st rounder had top 10 potential should Brees go down early in the year (IE Browns/Houston pick ending up as 4th overall after Watson went down).

Re: Osweiler Browns trade, funny irony of 1 staff spending $18mill on a 2nd and another staff taking that 2nd and investing it into a high 2nd round pick RB. I don't hate 2nd round RB picks as you get a player's prime for cheap but in this example it's not exactly 'cheap'. Chubb's contract 4 years $7 mill + ($18 mill in Osweiler fees) puts him as a top 10 most 'expensive' RB.

Yea securing the best qb in the league ( i could easily see him being the best throughout the length of his contract) is never a bad day. But it did seem as tho they kinda had him by the balls

Teddy/his agent kind of ****ed up the FA process. Signing a free agent and then turning them into a 3rd round pick w/ basically no cost to the team... that's just not supposed to happen. Seems Teddy 'bet on himself' said okay max my incentives out and give me the least guarantee... well that structure only works if you have a chance to start. And that structure makes you an ideal trade target for a team that doesn't plan to start you.

On the other hand he seems extremely likely to retain some amount of value heading into next year's free agency. He'll be 1 more year removed from injury and have spent time in a great offense learning behind Brees. Still will be younger than some rookie QBs (named Weeden). Gonna be a long journey but I wanna see him sign a real contract someday.

Rodgers also is drawing live to be Romo'd. Get that guaranteed money.

Jets paid Teddy 1M in bonus money. Not that it matters much, they got a third rounder? for almost nothing.

Michael Kendricks got charged with insider trading. The NFL crimes sure have changed since the good old days.

I think this is pretty clearly what the Jets saw as the ideal situation all along. I don't quite recall - did they sign Teddy or McCown first?

IIRC they signed Teddy then instantly signed McCown to a fully guaranteed (read: untradable) contract. Then a few days later they traded up to #3. Hard to look at that timeline and think that they ever seriously considered rolling with Teddy.
