Garcon/DJAX is pretty sick.

Skins should be fun this year.

Jackson's deal is 3yr/ $24 million. $16 millies guaranteed.

Yeah it prob will shape up with half or less of the guarantee in signing bonus, and the rest in guaranteed salary (maybe some of year 2 guaranteed only for injury)

The good thing about this deal is that the Skins didn't sign him to like some 7 year deal or something crazy. He will be motivated to play hard given that he will want another major contract at 30 (or to renegotiate at 29 or something).

Can't wait to see djax carve up the classless eagles like a turkey 2 times a year.

If RG3 doesn't have to hobble around the turf again he'll look very good next year

Not sure how you take a player #1 and not start him. Let alone keep him on the bench because of Fitzpatrick.

Don't disagree, but there is a pretty long history of NFL coaches doing this.

Well DeAngelo Hall is excited to bring a "humble guy" to the team!

Humble is without a doubt the most misused word in sports. I love how just about every time someone wins an award they claim it's humbling. I can't imagine anything that would make me feel worse about myself than being told I'm the MVP

I think a better question is, is this signing a better use of resources than hiring Assani as head coach? Assume the cost of three months of job training is included.

Spotrac and overthecap are generally the two most reliable resources on the subject.

It's a new world. QBs are being trained to specialize in the position at earlier and earlier ages and thus come in more ready to play. If Bridgewater is the pick I can't imagine him not starting from day one. Bortles would need work but they might throw him into the fire too anyway.

Pretty shocked Jeff Fisher didn't get DJax. Gang rumors must be false.

The fact that the most recent example you can cite is from 2005 is exactly the point. The game's changed.

The only first-round QBs since then who didn't start the majority of games their rookie year were players who ended up being total sacks of **** anyway-- guys like JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Tim Tebow, and Jake Locker.

Yeah, I agree with this, but I'm sure there are some NFL coaches who would rather roll with a veteran who is 5% better than their 1st round QB.

Not at all a perfect example, but Lovie Smith going with McCown over Glennon seems kind of dumb, but he's still doing it.

lol I understand. My only point was that it could still happen because a lot of NFL coaches are insanely conservative and also not very smart.

I thought the same thing too, but then I went back and looked at the numbers and Glennon was actually pretty terrible last year. If he makes significant strides, then sure, he should start, but honestly I wouldn't be putting my eggs in his basket if I were the Bucs.

That's true, and if/when Derek Carr gets drafted before Johnny Manziel (hell, the more I think about it, if/when Blake Bortles gets drafted before Manziel) we'll see another great example of it.

"Have been doing it for years"...Last did it a decade ago. LOL

Coaches have been making players wear leather helmets "for years" too, maybe the 1st overall QB is gonna wear a leather helmet.
