One factor to consider in any Cooks deal is the role of his new agency, run by brothers Ryan and Bruce Tollner. The Tollners represent Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, and Cooks certainly would help both young quarterbacks.

So there's that

I don't know if the pats being interested in cooks should make me chance my stance on him or not. If they snag him they have to have the smallest wr corps in history.

Rumors in New England involve a swap of picks (including Pats #32) and some other compensation, which makes more sense. I can't see the Pats offering #32 and more and I can't see NO turning it down if they had.

Looks like we're on our way to someone eventually breaking into the 4.1s in the future.

Ross right at that perfect size for the 40, about 5'10 190 where exploding out of his stance is a cake walk for him. Super relaxed throughout. Too bad he cramped up after the 1st attempt, would have liked to see if he could have lowered it.

I think you guys are saying the same thing. There was some mention that NE might be offering to throw in a bad player so it would be something like:

Saints get:
#32
Guy Pats don't want

Patriots get:
Cooks
Mid-round pick

The saints are reportedly looking for a mid-1st + an impact defensive player, so they wouldn't necessarily swoop if NE offered 32 straight up. They might as well wait a week & see what the best offer they can get is.

I'm guessing the final deal will look like the Patriots deal above, only with a higher 1st round pick.

Also Jay Gruden got a 2-year extension from Skins. 1st coach ever to get more than 1 contract from Snyder.

So McCaffrey looks destined to be the next Stanford RB to be drafted day 2 and serve as a middling WR until his team figures out his actual position?

Good thing he sat out that bowl game, to solidify his 2nd round stock.

Well if the Patriots get him, they'd figure it out. Any other team he has no chance as a white RB.

What's your stance? Seems like he could be a top 10 WR in the league if he didn't play for the Saints who spread the ball around the most of any team except the Pats.

And speaking of the Pats, he had better stats than Edelman who surprisingly only had 3 TDs this year.

Edelman didn't quite seem right (despite a lot of catches) until a little more than halfway through the season. Not sure if his foot was still bothering him, but he seemed to get his quickness back as the season went on.

Of course, his decline is likely to start soon - he's approaching that age where a lot of slot guys start to fall off.

Think he only has one year left of his deal - will be interesting to see if BB extends him. Just checked - cap hit of 5.75 with about 4m to be paid to him plus some incentives,so not inconceivable they extend him but they may let him play it out at age 30

His production grade is A+ and his testing numbers are excellent. This draft is loaded at RB so I could see that as a reason why he might go early 2nd round, but anything beyond that would be thievery.

Colleague @nikbonaddio from @numberFire sent these workout comps for the QBs from this weekend@s combine.

oh so Trubisky & Watson are both basically McNabb/Clausen/Losman?
(whatever that is supposed to mean)

this seems like the most pointless "work" ever

Sam Bradford having the same workout comp as a random 7th round pick I don't remember makes that entire piece of "work" hilarious.

in hindsight maybe that should have been a red flag

GM: "so we're thinking of taking Bradford with the #1 pick, thoughts?"
nerd: "well according to our data, he projects EXACTLY the same as Cody Pickett"
GM: "who!?"
nerd: "let's just say that you can get GREAT odds on him winning MVP!!"

Cody Pickett played against us in high school. His folks held him back a year so he was a super senior.

Going to hundredths of a percent is probably the most ridiculous part of that entire "work". They'll be lucky if it's accurate within 10% but some idiot is so confident of their garbage they're going way past that.

They admittedly did apparently nail the Cody Pickett and Sam Bradford connection though.

It's just a dumbazz regression analysis. 2 decimal places seems standard.

It's not like combine stats are even that relevant for QBs.

Most qb's are tall and white, so those are very important combine metrics.

I assume they are athletic comps only, mockdraftable is similar but slightly different #'s and not all the same data--whatever. You can't measure between the ears in a combine drill. Though they should have a quick reaction test, I presume some teams try to do that in interviews.

One of deshaun watson's athletic comps based on combine stats?

Keenan Allen.

this is kind of a fun time waster
Von Miller is Kevin White + 30 pounds.

JJ Watt has no comp, obviously.

He's better than that. Assuming white RB bias isn't in play among all 32 teams, he could be a first-rounder and featured back with no reservations.

This reminds me of the talk that Vernon Davis was such a freak he could have been an elite pass rusher.

And yeah J.J. Watt ran a 6.88 3-cone at 291 pounds. Breaking 7 at ANY size is awesome. That's just out of this world.

Today was agility drills for DL and pass rushers. It was... largely disappointing. I had higher hopes for this class. Garrett is elite though and Thomas also tested very good. Big risers from the day are Jordan Willis, Derek Rivers, and T.J. Watt.
