But Sorgi has a higher QB efficiency than Peyton lol

I think this year has reinforced how great Brady truly is. Cassell is the most sacked QB in the league. Shows how underrated Tom Brady's pocket presence is, imo. Cassell has played well, but he routinely misses open WR's including Randy Moss on deep balls. Just makes you appreciate Brady, because he just doesn't miss those guys.

Shows how awesome Welker and Moss are and the oline. NE offense is loaded, somehow I doubt Cassel would succeed with the 2000-2005 pats offense.

I considered him pretty strongly before going with Vanden Bosch. I think it's basically a push and depends on personal preference. I do realize I could have probably gotten him later but I also had my top guys snatched out from under me and didn't feel anyone stood out in terms of marginal value-- so I took a guy I knew I wanted.

Cassel has only been sacked 6 times in the last 4 weeks. He's also thrown 2 400 yard games in the last 2 weeks, Brady's career he has 1 400 yd game. The team and Cassel have adjusted and they've looked more than fine the last couple of weeks offensively.

Clearly what I meant was Cassel>Brady>Manning

The team went from probably best team ever to 2nd best team in their division and fighting for a playoff spot and we are going to knock Brady because Cassell has been doing good?

Definitely not. They were only out of 2 games and could be 9-2 right now. I think Brady is very good but the system they got running now makes a gimp QB look like a pro bowler. But 10 good players surrounding 1 good / great player usually can outweigh the one great / good player. They have a system they are running where they can draft middling QBs in college and produce very good results. Brady was a 6th round pick and he now a certain HOFer and Cassel doesn't need to improve much if he were to stay in NE to be a PB level QB.

Cassel runs their spread pretty effectively but (I didn't see yesterday's game yet) has a really weak arm and is awful at deep ball accuracy whereas Brady is godly, hence greatest offense all time versus now with Cassel just good (maybe really good?).

I think the difference between Tom Brady2007/Cassell2008 and 2007 Pats O/2008 Pats O is way bigger than you do I guess.

Schobel's overrated. Doesn't get as much pressure on the QB as you'd think. Get some garbage sacks here and there which make his numbers look better. Not very stout against the run either. I wish we could dump his contract, but we're stuck with him for a while.

He never played a snap before the season with the starting unit. He has needed some time to adjust. Yes Brady is great, can hit the great throws and is definitely better than Cassel but Cassel's first 10 games are eerrily similar to Brady's first 10 in a Pats uniform. I'd expect Brady in his 8th year to be better especially since Cassel hasn't played since HS. They are averaging 24.5 points a game this year vs 38~ last year so obviously their is a difference but 10 other offensive players are definitely going to outweigh the 1.

wat. Brady didn't get to play with Moss and [oops], you cannot compare the situations. Damn too late to edit my first post.

Cassel was absolutely horrible to begin with and has gotten better. He's basically a 4th year rookie. My point isn't that Cassel is on par with Brady, it's that the system they run is very good.

it's not like he's used Moss that well anyways. I know it's not comparable but it's similar. I'm not expecting Cassel to be anywhere near as good as Brady if he leaves, that's the point.

Yea, but Brady didn't have half as close to the Weapons when he came out of nowhere. Cassell is jumping into a much better situation offensively than Brady did.

Level?? He doesn't use Moss well because he cannot throw a deep pass!

their defense went from clearly above average to clearly below average which certainly had a something to do with the team falling down

the rest was the pass offense plummeting, but being covered by supersoft schedule

wait...someone drafted Cassell??

or, are you all just talking about him comparing him to brady, and ignoring the 'no talking about undrafted players' rule because he's not going to get picked?

please tell me someone drafted Matt Cassell..

cassel isn't getting drafted unless someone is insane. i'm pretty sure we can talk about other very young players who won't get drafted either.
