I don't know if the, what, 11th LT selected is sick value in the 3rd round.

Logan Mankins

Sort by PFF strategy indicates that he's one of best guards in the NFL, and is especially beastly at run blocking. He's also pretty young for a guard, so should help anchor my line for awhile. The Patriots have cobbled together quality running games with numerous crappy undrafted RBs in recent years, and I feel like having a sick o-line will help my offense compete against those with the elite QBs. He and Roos = bulldozing on the left side.

Team so far:
LT Michael Roos
LG Logan Mankins

DT Haloti Ngata

Considering he could've easily been picked in round 2, and would've never made it to him in round 4, it's definitely a great value.

Thats the problem with PFF. Mankins should not be the first guard off the board. He's a no doubt a good player but I can name 3 guards off the top of my head that should go ahead of him.

Eh...he protects Brady and OL are OL I guess.

Figured I was falling into that trap, but I have no other way to evaluate guards. It's partially why I'm taking linemen early so at least I know I'm getting one that's good.

I think the Pats rushing attack with such mediocre RBs, especially in 2008, backs up PFF's assessment to an extent though.

McNeil was not. But I rarely watch the Chargers play so I don't have much of an assessment on him. I've read over and over and been told that he is vastly overrated but again, his sack numbers are solid. I just don't know much on him.

Why isn't the amount of time an offensive lineman keep his block an available stat? Seems like the most obvious indicator of an O-lineman's pass blocking skills.

No doubt. I've got another HS Basketball game to play at tonight. Yay Homecoming. Can you sense my excitement?

Mostly because that would be disingenuous and we all know I can't be that. But I will say this...whoever does end up with a certain player I will applaud them at the tremendous value.

Because each play is a separate entity. 3/5 step drops vs 7 step drops, PA vs non-PA. The stat wouldn't be as telling as people believe.

I'm not leaving until tomorrow but I might be out later tonight for the night. Depends on how I feel.

Is a 3/5 step drop easier to defend for x seconds than a 7 step drop because the pass rusher has to take a wider angle to where the QB is standing?

You can give up the outside in a 3/5 step drop yeah. Speed rushers are at a bit of disadvantage because the QB doesn't get as deep and speed rush is all about depth. I mean its a pretty complicated thing and hard to truly discuss in text but when you see Megatron running down the sideline for a 50 yard bomb, thats a 7 step drop, when you see the quick slant route its a 3 step drop.

No way a player remotely as good as Jennings will be there at our next pick. And, hell, if one is I'm taking him. I think there are 2 other receivers who are close with Jennings that will go very soon. Jennings isn't as physical as most of the receivers drafted but he's a smaller dude. Anyways I expect him and Ryan to have a beautiful career with eachother..

I don't know what this says about me, but the guy I literally flipped a coin to not pick in round 2 is still available. This would be quite the coup if he fades 4 more picks.
