Feel like it's time to gamble on a high upside play. Going to take Jaylon Smith and have him relax for a year and hope we have a solid LB that is versatile enough to play in any scheme next year.

Maybe a Pittsburgh homer pick but I think he'll be a great slot receiver in the pros.
It's not a big deal, but I caught up with everything this morning. Shouldn't be auto skipped anymore.

I asked for opinions for 2-3 days and no one offered one, and then I make a choice and it's refuted

Point being can people actually offer opinions if they have feelings one way or the other?

Byard signed for 4/$3.7m with a $897k signing bonus over a month ago. Weird Spotrac wouldn't have a #.

over the cap doesn't have it either. Luckily it's slotted so basically what benny said should do tho kowa needs every bit he can get.

it's my pick for round 25 right?

okay it's been a ton of hours since the last post and the pick before me has selected so as far as I'm concerned yes it is. Taking a run defending nose tackle to round out my defense.

NT Bennie Logan 1,842,023

Getting maybe the 4th or so best nose tackle at this point in the draft from last season is a pretty fine addition to my team.

I'll take JC Tretter for ~700k, apparently starting over the other packer C who already got drafted.

And Jeremy Hill for ~1M as my beefier back for rare running situations.

Do I need to decide now? And I get 75% back? Was thinking I could decide when I'm ready to replace them

Yeah, Linsley has been injured all camp so Tretter won the job kinda by default

No, you don't need to decide now, but you seemed like you were itching to pick

Apparently I can pick? I forgot I was at the top of this round.

Spoiler:

Cliffs: **** you

Serious writeup: I wish I had saved about $5m more for this purpose, but I decided getting defensive studs like Ingram and Gilmore was worth it. So here we are. Cutler is unique among the QBs remaining in that he's both young enough that I feel confident he will be able to play well for the league's three-year window, and he's not a ****pile checkdown artist.

It's no coincidence that he's had arguably the best three seasons of his career these last three seasons, when the Bears finally gave him an offensive line and receivers to match, instead of 5'10" guys who can only run timing routes and Mike Tice reclamation projects. (Yeah, Lockett is small, but Allen is big, and Beckham's elite catch radius means he plays like he is.)

His strong arm and see-it-throw-it mentality will be ideal for a receiver group that each can get open in a flash. He has the arm to hit Lockett and Beckham downfield. Allen and Beckham will keep the chains moving. Duke provides a safety outlet. The Arians Attack usually only relies on tight ends for blocking; I took Hunter Henry so I could have some upside that he could add a receiving option in addition to that. My receivers will shred defenses, and I can count on Cutler to find the open man. I also think that between their catch radii, ball-tracking abilities, and ability to make contested catches, my receivers will be able to compensate for the occasional less-than-accurate Cutler ball.

I'm also excited at the possibility of hitting a few bombs to Beckham and Lockett off a Derrick Henry play action. Of course, it's symbiotic: An offense that can go deep on any play forces defenders to stay back and opens up running lanes for our powerful, explosive back. I am confident with the level of talent on my line that we can both run and pass block well enough to execute our entire offense.

Cutler has 21 career fourth-quarter comebacks, including four last year to lead the league. I want my QB to not only have that fearless mentality, but to be able to execute under pressure. (The mentality without the talent gives you Case Keenum, or maybe Sage Rosenfels.)

I know he's not elite-- I'll admit I'd really rather have Roethlisberger right now-- but everyone around him is elite, and I think he's good enough, and has the traits I'm looking for in a QB, that he can guide this offense successfully.

Sure, he comports himself like a drunk coal miner, but his teammates love him. I am confident he will thrive with the amount of talent I have surrounded him with.

And if he doesn't, Cardale is an elite talent anyway. It'll work out one way or another.

Jay Cutler
