there'll have been a 'bringing the organisation into disrepute' clause in his contract that they'd be able to fire him with and I'm sure he knew that when he 'resigned'.

but as Dom says, they'd have worked something out, because they're apparently good friends. I'd be surprised if it wasn't under NDA and I would be very surprised if it's more than a year's wages

I wonder if he resurfaces somewhere. Can't see him with another team and he's way too toxic for a big media role. And he can't exactly join the NFL after what he said about Rog.

maybe he can join the Trump 2024 campaign?

I can see him becoming a high profile college coach but that’s likely the only way he’s sticking around football

Three best teams in the NFL. I will fight you if you argue about this.

The Hall of Very Good

4 Cardinals (5-0) (up 2)
5 Packers (4-1)
6 Chargers (4-1) (up 4)
7 Chiefs (2-3) (down 3)
8 Ravens (4-1)
9 Browns (3-2) (down 2)
10 Cowboys (4-1) (up 1)

Rejoice Chefs haters, I deem them no longer ELIte. Just too many holes on defense and Mahomes has to constantly put the team on his back to keep pace with any good opponent. I may be a little too harsh on them as their schedule has been nuts (four top 10 opponents) but they look as human as ever. My gut says that the Cardinals belong here and not in the top tier. Win @ CLE goes a long way in my books. Actually there are a couple saucy week 6 matchups to clear up this tier but I would not argue with any arrangement of these 7 teams. These teams are all insanely close yet minor flaws in their own ways.

The Bad Good Teams

11 Titans (3-2) (up 1)
12 Niners (2-3) (down 2)
13 Saints (3-2) (up 3)
14 Seahawks (2-3) (down 1)
15 Broncos (3-2) (down 1)
16 Panthers (3-2) (down 1)
17 Steelers (2-3) (up 1)
18 Vikings (2-3) (up 1)
19 Bengals (3-2) (up 2)

Messy tier. The tier of constant shuffle. These teams will burn me all year whenever I need them to cover, I just know it. Titans could be a tier 2 team but I think it is a pretty clear top 10 right now, plus that Jets loss cost me a lot of money. Niners, Seahawks, Broncos all trending down. Can Lance throw a spiral? Geno time. Panthers I'm still warm on, I think they just let that one slip away against Philly. Saints still their usual box-of-chocolates. Bengals are sneaky alright.

The Good Bad Teams

20 Raiders (3-2) (down 3)
21 Pats (2-3) (down 1)
22 Eagles (2-3) (up 2)
23 Bears (3-2) (up 2)
24 Football Team (2-3) (down 2)
25 Colts (1-4) (down 2)

I think these teams suck but not to the level of suckitude that the below ones do. Smoke and mirrors whenever they show flashes. I don't have the guts to inverse this tier and put Raiders and Pats at the bottom of it but its what my head is telling me. Probably too hard on the Colts, given how tough they've played opponents. Tonight was a hard loss to watch as a Colts fan, because it was a glorious one to watch as a Ravens fan.

The Bad Bad Teams

26 Falcons (2-3) (up 1)
27 Dolphins (1-4) (down 1)
28 Texans (1-4)
29 Lions (0-5)
30 Giants (1-4)
31 Jaguars (0-5)
32 Jets (1-4)

... Yep. Just one minor change here.

Not sure what lands Chiefs in Very Good category. Defense is historically bad. Mahomes is struggling against cover 2, and not adjusting to our new O-line where the tackles generally get beat to the outside, limiting his ability to bail out of the pocket and make things happen.

Dallas at 10. No.

But for that opening week heartbreaker, they're 5-0.

interesting...although there would have to be significant penance before then, you'd think?

And even if a college could get over the morality of hiring someone who has offended large swathes of the public, wouldn't you think it would be a significant impediment to recruitment?

I would have thought the Bengal's performance against your #5-ranked team would have finally garnered them some grudging respect, but sadly, no.

Other thoughts:
1. We are deep enough into the season now, that still being undefeated should be more than enough to place your team in the top tier.

2. Cowboys, as much as it pains me to say it, are way too low. That offense is dynamic and variable. The defense is good enough.

I'd have Dallas at 6

also...The Chiefs haven't looked great, but they've had a very tough schedule. 4 very likely guaranteed playoff teams plus a (surprisingly) 3-2 Iggles

likewise...while the Bills have looked very dominant since week 1, their schedule was very weak until the Chiefs game. it's pretty easy all the way through and you'd think they're gonna end up with a minimum of 13 wins

They're the #1 offense still by DVOA (granted that is likely to change after this week). Defense of course is #32.

It's just been a tough schedule. I mean they're not worse than the teams who are in the 12-16 range, like Seahawks, Broncos, Panthers. No way.

How would you rank the top 10? They didn't thump the Chargers or anything. If you read my notes I don't really have any qualms about reorganizing that tier, those teams are all close.

Dallas has a pretty soft overall schedule, not til week 11 do they finally get the Chiefs.

If it is any consolation, I do like the Bengals. There's just something about getting the divisional monkey off the back, games vs. Ravens and Browns will be interesting.

Not seeing the Ravens as "Very Good" when they have struggled against DET and IND, your 25th and 29th team. They're just 3 flitters away from being 1-4.

Think the Cards should be in tier 1 but if they beat the Browns next week they must go into the top tier.

Yes, I cannot deny them ELIte status with a win in Cleveland.

Bills lost to Steelers.
Packers crushed by Saints.
Bucs struggled with Pats, Rams struggled with Colts.

Ravens are lightning in a bottle but they are a top 10 team.

Interesting that Cleveland is the ultimate litmus test. Curb stomping your #2 and #11 teams on the road, and being the only undefeated team in the league, doesn't get it done, but beating the Browns does?

But I guess that's what makes these lists fun to talk about.

3 extremely lucky wins for the Ravens this year (down entire game vs KC / only wins because they fumble at end, converts 4&19 to kick longest fg ever which goes in on a lucky bounce vs Detroit, down entire game vs Indy and only wins because of blocked fg/kicker injured/entire secondary injured)

i will enjoy watching them get smoked in the playoffs again
