Shawn Andrews to NYG is an intriguing signing.

Not really, no.

He hasn't played in forever due to back problems and there's no way he's starting over Snee or Seubert.

I'm intrigued to see how the Lions fairly good defensive line will work with the awful secondary.

Intriguing != Great, important, loljets, etc

oh good doctor ikestoys is back itt

the giants' o-line depth has been terrible for as long as i can remember, this is a good signing for sure. i am trying to remember the non-lomas brown oldster they brought in to be a backup a few years ago who was just comically and pathetically terrible

Is it just me, or are the Giants getting underhyped by a lot? Their schedule is easier than the Eagles and Cowboys, they added Rolle and a healthy Phillips to the secondary, and they still have an offense that was 12th in DVOA last year and should improve this year.

Antrel Rolle is complete AIDS. I think there's some lingering health concerns w/r/t Phillips and they've got that guy coming in who only knows Tampa-2 variants which is a lulzfest for NYG. All that said I think the Beast is wide open this year.

Are the Giants converting to a Tampa 2 this year? I don't see how that would work
08-20-2010 , 03:25 PM
i believe they are, etats. and yes, 'cardo's concerns are part of why i'm not that high on the giants this year, they seem thoroughly mediocre. while they don't appear to have that many weaknesses, it's hard to see what their strengths are, either.

lol @ every coach ever, amirite?

Meh, Perry brings a lot more than just base Tampa 2.
08-20-2010 , 03:32 PM
I don't really think anyone really has an idea of how good (or bad) the Giants will be. They aren't far removed from being an elite team, but it seems like they need to hit a lot of "maybes" to win the division or be a contender.
08-20-2010 , 03:36 PM
They are going to run out a couple formations with Tuck/Kiwi/Osi/JPP so that should be fun at least.

Rolle was overpaid but calling him AIDS is a bit much. He is a huge improvement over the worst safety in Beast history. Phillips, who knows, but if he can come back at a reasonable percentage then that secondary becomes a strength (Webster and Thomas are a good CB pair).

It's going to come down to the two lines though. There is so much talent and money on the defensive line that if isn't an elite group then some people shouldn't have jobs. The offensive line is the biggest question mark imo.

Nicks/Smith will be very good. Jacobs won't be.
08-20-2010 , 03:46 PM
Giants are a tough team to handicap this year. And they play in a tough division.

What's the deal with their running back corps? Did Jacobs just give up after signing his new contract?

It really sucks that Chad Jones basically stepped on a land mine. A healthy average-grade seventh round pick is an improvement over Cash & Carry Brown.

no, it's lame. he barely even makes contact with the magazine.
